"If I were the pirates, it would be a place where there is no where to run. No planet to escape to, nothing to hide among. A place where no help could get to you before they had you." he brought out a data pad and punched in the corridinates and showed her. "This would be the logical place for them to jump the Nomad."

He had went over the course that they would be taking and it would be the perfect place to put an anti hyperdrive device. It would bring the ship out of hyperdrive and make it ripe for attack. "Oh and to let you know, I will be going with you."

Key looked at the datapad but of course she couldn't form an opinion since she had no idea where he was talking about or what the setup was like. She wanted to continue her plan. "Look for a place near an uninhabitable planet... another gas giant or something.... even a large moon... something that will hide the Kubura. Remember that the bait is to have the Nomad appear to be having technical problems to lure the fish in. Then the Kubura will come in behind the pirates and we wedge them between us. Since the planet or moon is likely to interfere with communications between our two ships we can use a modified probe droid as a sort of relay. It's stored in the cargo droid and its codes deactivated but they're comm systems are powerful."
She then heard his last comment and looked at him. "Krell, I need someone to command the Kubura. This is an ambush and the Kubura has to be alert and ready."

You have some one to command the Kubura. Nila brought the ship to you with a droid crew, she knows the ship, and all she has to do is give the orders and the crew will follow them. You are the captain of the ship and who you leave in charge is who they will obey. Many of these people are experienced men and women. If she is not sure of what to do, they will make suggestions." he smiled. Nila was learning the ropes and would one day have to do it. It might not be the ideal time for such a move, but anyone's first time commanding a ship in battle would be hard no matter who they were.

As for her plan to use a moon or planet and fake being in trouble. "These pirates are not going to hit a ship near a world or moon that can help shield a small ship like the Nomad. They like the open space where you will have no where to run. You will sit there for days and they will not come, but be out in the middle of nowhere and they will pounce on you in no time." he told her. "Trick is to keep the Kubura at the furthest distance that sensors will allow. The pirates coming after you will not know it is there until it is to late. They will not be concentrating on long distant sensors once they start the chase." The thrill of the chase, and the fight that would ensue with the Nomad would keep them occupied.

Key wasn't sure. Nila in command while in battle? Nila was a very good apprentice, to be sure. But she had very little tactical experience in a fire fight. Sure she had people and droids here to help her and the plan sounded straightforward on paper. But something could always happen that's not in the plan.
"No. Nila's combat experience shouldn't begin this way. She still has a lot to learn. I need you here and you can put her at helm control. In a trap like this, timing is going to be critical and she may second guess herself. Krell, I need you commanding the Kubura. You have the tactical knowledge to make this work. As for setting up this trap, the pirates shouldn't think I CAN run... no matter where the Nomad is. If we pick a system that is remote enough, the pirates will come no matter what. Remember, the Nomad is supposed to fake engine troubles... that's the bait while the Kubura hides behind the planet. If we play our cards right, your people might be able to capture their ships. The Kubura has ion cannons and so does the Nomad."

She had a point on the experience, but he had a feeling that she was underestimating the girl. He didn't like th idea of Key being out there alone on the Nomad. No matter what improvements and modifications to the shields she had made if they came up against anything like the Kubrua, that was not going to last long. He knew the there were a couple pirate ships out there that were in a class like the Kubrua. They were very active in taking down ships like the Nomad.

"Well I still don't like you being out there alone. If not me then take another out there to man the weapons. These bastards are tricky and damned good shots. They are not like the imperials that practice on drones. They have experience with live quary." He would stay back and command the Kubrua if she had someone with her. As for finding a planet or moon or something he punched in some data and on the screen the location of a large asteroid that was floating in space by itself came up. It was big enough to hide the Kubura and was out far enough to attract the pirates. "This spot lookes the most promising then, if you are wanting something for the Kubura to hide behind."

Key never had any intention of going alone.
"I had already intended for Geeto to go with me. And if you're in command of the Kubura then I can take Tak along, too. But if it makes you feel better then assign one of the crew to come along, as well. The Nomad has two turrets. Getto will man one and a gunner will man the other. I'll still have fire control over the missile launcher and ion cannon," she said. Although, Key had a feeling that Krell was underestimating her piloting skills. He's never seen her in a fire fight before and the Nomad had some surprising maneuverability.
She did, though, look at Krell's suggestion on location. "I like that... remote but it's not too far off course to Toydaria. Lay in the course. We'll set up the trap before we put out the lure," she says.

Krell nodded. He would select one of the crew to go with her. Droids were good at times but the human element of surprise was always something that made a battle intresting and unpredictable. He returned to the bridge of the Kubura and gave the coordinates that were to be laid in. With in a couple minutes they were on a new course and would be there in a few hours.

"Carl will be the one accompanying you as you lay the bait for the trap." Carl was a large man, bald, with a number of tatoos. He had been a freighter crewman before it had been destroyed by pirates. Once he introduced him to Key, Krell made sure everything was ship shape and then turned the com over to Key.

Key looked over Carl, silently evaluating him and making sure the man wasn't cross eyed or something if he's going to be her gunner.
"Very well then," she said aloud. She looked at Nila then, who was on the bridge. "Nila, you can sit at the helm during this operation. It'll be a good experience for you," she told the girl.
"Yes, Keysla. Good hunting," said the Twi'lek.
Key took her chair then... quietly waiting for the ship to arrive in the system and thus the real work would begin.

Krell left the bridge after making sure Key accepted Carl for a crewman aboard the Nomad. He went to the various stations aboard the Kubura to talk to the crew. With the Turbo Blaster crews he went over what they were to target on the pirate vessels. The first thing would be the shield generators, then the engines and weapons systems. The enginering section he wanted to make sure they could give him the extra power and speed if needed

Once he was done with his pep talks and getting a feel of how the crew was he went to his quarters. If all went well, the pirates would have one nasty surprise on their hands, two if his other plan had to be used. Krell was not one to only have one plan of action when going into battle.

Keysla would hope that Krell remembered what she'd suggested to him. The Kubura and the Nomad also had ion cannons that could simply disable a ship while keeping it intact. She had suggested to him that they could imprison the pirates and turn them in for the bounties while adding their ships to start our own fleet. Depending on the types of pirate vessels that showed up, they might be worth keeping rather than destroying. It'd be an added surprise for the pirates to have the tables turned on them. She knew several Hutts would pay handsomely for some of the pirates... the Hutts didn't like them interrupting their smuggling operations. Though shady, getting in good graces with some key Hutts could prove useful.

After some time on the bridge, Key called Geeto and Carl to go with her to make sure the Nomad was ready for this mission. They went over every system and detail while they awaited the signal to deploy.

It was a very risky thing they were about to do. There was no telling how many pirate ships there would be showing up. If there were to many then they would be in a world of hurt. That was why Krell had his continency plan. It was soon enough time for the Nomad to go do the decoy bit. When he got to the bridge Key had already gone down to get the Nomad ready. He took the command chair and nodded to the pilot. The Kubura dropped out of hyper drive and went to sublight. The large lone astrorid slowly got bigger and the ship slowed to a stop.

"Alright Key." he hit the comm button. "Time to go play the injured animal and have the wolves come to dinner." He hit the shipwide intercom, "All hands to their stations, it is time."

Key only nodded at Krell's signal, even though Krell can't hear a nod over the comm. Key replied, 'launch that probe droid, too. it needs time to get into position to play 'relay station'. Deftly, she lifted the Nomad off the deck and headed out of the bay. She was ready for this.
She took the Nomad out into the system and got into position around the gas giant. She kept her system running and waited for the droid to be in position. She let Carl and Geeto relax for the moment.

Once the Nomad had made it into position and the probe droid moved out to get into position, it became a waiting game. The cargo they had needed to get through so time became a precious thing. Krell sat there in the command chair of the bridge and watched the out the thick glass of the ships windows.

It seemed that the wolves had been waiting for a while. They were eager to pounce. A Techno Union Hard Cell Gun Ship and a Corellian Gunship appeared out of hyperspace and hailed the Nomad. "Prepare to be boarded and surrender your cargo." came a mans voice. "Do it and you might get out of this with your lives."

Once the probe droid was in position, it was time to set the trap.
Keysla angled the Nomad so that it looked like the ship was listing a little and experiencing problems. She also activated the Nomad's distress signal to add to the 'bait' and a message that the ship was experiencing 'technical problems'. Keysla almost wanted to laugh.
Then she sat back and waited. This trap was risky but the rewards could be well worth the effort.
Within an hour, they had a bite. The sensors raised an alarm as an old TU Gunship dropped out of hyperspace and with it a Corellian Gunship.
"We've got company," she told Carl. (the Comm is off so the pirates don't hear) "Pirates with two capital sized ships? They usually go for smaller more maneuverable ships. This might work out, tho. Carl, Geeto, man the turrets... we'll wait until they're closer and use their size and slow speeds against them. I'll try to give you two less to do with the Nomad's Ion Cannons."
Keysla was ready for this... just waiting for the right moment to strike.
Given her choices between the two ships, the Corellian Gunship would be the better prize to capture.
With a smile, she opened the Comm to the pirates, "This is Keysla Roglund, captain of the Nomad. My crew and I surrender. Just don't hurt us," she says.
Keysla was also sending this on a piggyback signal to the probe droid where it'd be relayed back to the hiding Kubura. She watched through the cockpit as the two pirate ships drew nearer.

The TU Gunship moved forward preparing to make a docking manuver so they could board the Nomad. The Corrllian Gun Ship remained where it was, its weapons trained on the Freighter. When Krell got the signal he gave the command and the Kubura moved forward gaining speed as it came out of hiding and brought the Corrllian Gun Ship into its gun sights. "Ion Cannon fire!" Krell ordered and a stream of ionized particals lanced towards the Gun Ship and hit it, sending a charge through its hull, disabling systems.

"Forward turbo's, take out the other's engines. The Kubura's turbo lasers fired sending streaks of light at the TU Gun ship and tearing chunks out of its aft hull and engins. Then he opened a comm link to the Gun Ships. "Now you surrender or we will rip your ships apart and let the vacume of space suck the air out of your lungs."

As the Kubura came around into range, Keysla could see the pirate ships turning to face the larger threat. "Now!" she ordered and hit the Nomad into full throttle. The TU Gunship took a barrage of turbolaser fire from the Kubura on its broadside as it turned. Keysla took little time for her much smaller and more maneuverable ship to come about and unleash a barrage of cluster seeker missiles on the aft section of the TU Gunship. The cluster seekers broke apart into separate warheads (6 for each missile) and pelted the larger ship hard.
She opened the comm to the pirates, "You heard the man! Stand down, pirate dogs!"
She moved the Nomad to a position that flanked the enemy ships. Neither one could carry many fighter craft but her missiles and Carls guns would make short work of any that were foolish enough to launch. The Nomad had plenty of teeth to bite with.
She changed the comm so that she addressed Krell only. "Don't let up just yet, Krell. Disable their ships completely."

Krell was not about to let up on the pirates. Not until they surrendered unconditionally. The Corllian gunship would be useless for a few minutes and that gave him time to concentrate fire on the TU gunship. It tried to get away, even though it's hyperdrive was damaged. A couple more shots that tore a hole in a section of the ship showed that he was a man of his word. That section suddenly depressurized as the air was sucked out into space as well as five bodies. The ship came to a complete halt as the Captain had the engines shut down.

"Cease fire. We surrender." came the captains voice. Now Krell could concentrate on the Corllian gunship. As he moved the Kubura further in he had one battery keep and eye on the TU and turned all the others onto the Corllian. "You seen what we did to your friend. Do you want a taste of the same."

The image of the Captain apeared on the vid screen. He was not to happy but he knew he was out matched. "Aye." he said, and then he gave the order to power everything down. Krell smiled as he opened a channel to Keysla.

"Come on back and we will board them and take the pirates prisoner." The Kubura had the room in a cargo bay to keep them all till they decided on where to take them. "They are all yours to do with as you please. " he chuckled.

Key opened the comm to the Kubura (again only the Kubura gets this message). "Let's stay on our guard, Krell. I'll keep my guns on them while you dock with the Corellian ship. There are some troop droids aboard the Kubura. I want you to send them in ahead of your men in case the pirates try something. Better to lose some droids than people. Think of it as throwing out a rock to trigger a trap. Krell, take an astromech droid aboard, too. If the pirates try to self destruct the ship in a desperate measure, the astromech can shut that down. Nila, remain on the bridge until those scum are secured."
Nila nodded quietly.
Key remained vigilant with her missiles locked on and carl and geeto training their cannons onto the Corellian gunship. She waited anxiously while the Kubura approached alongside the Corellian ship to board her.
"We need to hurry, Krell. Jam their transmissions before they can call in more dogs," Key orders.
Key already had her jamming array but they weren't as powerful as the Kubura's.

Krell grinned as he nodded to Key's insstructions. Bringing the Kubura along side the Corellian Gunship he docked with it. Going down to the airlock he sent in a number of the droids followed by him and several of the crew, armed to the teeth. He didn't have to have Key's worry about reinforcements. He had his own surprise if the pirates did that.

He knew the pirates. The Corellian Gunship captain had surrendered all to easily. He had a feeling that the pirates already had called in for backup and that they were on the way and all they had to do was stall. So Krell did not waste time. The droids went in one way with a couple humans and the rest of the crew went with him in another direction. He surprised the pirates that were suppose to come up on the rear of the boarding party. These him and the others took out quickly and he disabled the ships engines and weapons systems from the engineering section.

About that time four heavily armed freighters came out of hyperspace. The Tu and now the Corellian ships were out of action. The Kubura kept Krell appraised of the situation and he sent a message to Key, "Watch your tail and don't be alarmed at what will be apearing next." he told her.
