Moving Can Be Hard

"That's good," Aouri replied with a bit of a forced smile. "Maybe I can even find a ride to visit you." He followed Damien out of the area and to the restaurant. Aouri could hear the nervousness in Damien's voice and wished he could help him settle down. Both were nervous and upset about this, but they had to be strong to avoid completely breaking down about Damien moving. As much as Aouri wanted to just sit down and work out the storm in his mind, he had to keep pushing so everything couldn't catch up and choke him.

Damien smiled slightly, "That would be great...but...it's really far. It's a...8 hour drive from here." He said his smile faltering and he knew he would be unable to keep one. He could see the restaurant down the street. He hadn't wanted to tell him exactly how far he would be moving because the distance bothered him immensely and he didn't know how Aouri would react to it either. "But...it doesn't matter...we'll work through it won't we?" his voice was very questioning because he really had no clue if they would be able to keep up a long distance relationship.

"Oh...." Aouri responded, a bit surprised by how far he was moving away from where they were and how long it would take to get there. "We'll get through this though. We'll think of something together. On vacations maybe, we could see one another and it would totally be worth the eight hour trip." They could maybe spend a while at each other's house for the vacation and then it really would be worth the lengthy drive. Would a long distance relationship work as effectively as the relationship they had now though? It was infamous news that long distance ones didn't.

Damien smiled he was so glad that Aouri was being so optimistic about all this, "It would be worth the eight hours. We could spend whole vacations over at the other person's house. The house I'm getting is apparently really big to. And I get the entire basement as my room. We'd have lots of privacy." He said trying to look at the bright side of all this stuff that was happening. He squeezed Aouri's hand gently as he pushed open the door to the restaurant and walked in towards a booth near the window, simply waving to the lady waiting for customers at the front.

How bad would it really be once he was gone? Of course the first couple of weeks would be miserably lonely and loads of brooding would be involved. After that? What then? Every day would just go on as it always did, minus his boyfriend, was that how it was going to go? He didn't want that. He wanted to spend as much time as he could with Damien, and now that he was moving, what exactly would happen to them? They both said nothing would change over a long distance relationship. But was that true? Realizing he had realized that Damien said something a second too late, he quickly responded to what he had said. "Er...oh, yeah, that sounds like a good plan." He tried to smile to cover up the fact that his mind had been elsewhere, but Damien was sure to see through it.

Damien shook his head as he sat down. He let out a sigh, "We only have a minimal amount of time left together...could you at least listen to me during that." He said running a hand through his hair and leaning with one elbow on the table. He knew that now that he was here the manager would be here in a few minutes to start apologizing for things that are far from there fault.

"Yeah, sorry," he amended, sitting with his hands in his lap quietly. He didn't want this to happen, but there wasn't anything that he could have done to stop it or prevent it from happening at all. He didn't think any of this was his fault, but then with him, he never really knew. He seemed to find plenty of things that could have been prevented by him but weren't. This could be his fault too maybe.

Damien shook his head, "No it's fine don't worry about it." he stated quietly a sigh managing to find its way into his words. He put a hand on Aouri's knee, "Just...don't space out like that." He said with a small smile. As he spoke he could see Toya's mom coming up out of the corner of his eye. He turned to her and said hello. She looked upset but she set down the menus in front of them and asked what they would like to drink before adding, "Don't worry anything you two want is on the house." Damien smiled at her, "Thank you...and I'll just have a coke..."

"Okay," he responded to Damien, now actually really sorry he had spaced out when his boyfriend really wanted him all there so they could be together. He wanted to say his part of the thanks too to Toya's mother, but he was rather shy about it and kind of nervous of saying so, so he just gave a slight nod and mouthed the thank you. "I..um..just want water, please," he asked, since he wasn't much of a pop drinker all the time.

Toya's mom walked away nodding smiling slightly. Damien turned back to Aouri, "Hey...don't worry about it so much...it's going to be fine. I swear on my life it's going to be fine." He said putting his hand on Aouri's shoulder and getting even close to him in the process, he frowned, not liking how upset Aouri was right now.

"Yeah, I believe you," Aouri assured, because he did believe in Damien, but it still didn't make him any less nervous, or anxious, or anything. He trusted him when he said it'd all be okay, but there was always something that went wrong when it came to him. "You don't plan on finding a different boyfriend when you move then, huh?" he asked, though he knew Damien wouldn't. He hoped so anyway. He liked to think he knew Damien enough that he wouldn't find someone better if the long distance thing wasn't working out.

Damien was shocked at the question but he couldn't help but laugh at it though, "Of course not, I would never do that and you know I wouldn't. As long as you don't go and find yourself one when I leave." He said with a smile already knowing the answer. Toya's mom came back with their drinks a few moments after he spoke and Damien thanked her, "We still need another minute to decide what to eat if you don't mind." He said wanting some more time to talk to Aouri. She nodded and walked away with a small smile. Damien turned back to Aouri.

Aouri could say he was relieved when Damien said he wouldn't. When the quetion had sort of been redirected at him, if he would find another someone or not after he left, it was his turn to snicker. "Don't worry, I won't look for anyone else. I don't want anyone else besides you, even if there's the distance between us." When he got his water and murmured his thanks to her too, Aouri realized he didn't know what he was getting. He was glad when Damien said they needed another minute. He picked up his menu and skimmed, looking for something he might be in the mood for. "What are you gonna get?" he asked Damien, setting the menu down and keeping it on a single page in case Damien wanted to look off it too.

Damien laughed lightly he had already known the answer there was no way either of them could betray the other no matter the circumstances. When it came to what he was going to eat though it was one thing he hadn't really thought all the way through he looked down at the menu and sighed, "I don't know. I want to bury myself in ice cream right now...but I should probably eat...I don't want to lose my figure or anything like that." He said resting his head on his hand and skimming the menu trying to pick something that wasn't to expensive not wanting it to seem like he was milking the free food thing. He pushed his dark hair out of his face and sighed again.

"Agreed. Sounds good and all, the whole ice cream thing, but yeah, it wouldn't look very good if we let the food get to us." What was he in the mood for, actually? He had tofu miso soup earlier that morning for his breakfast, and he'd eaten some of the stuff that was on the breakfast menu previous of that week. He wasn't really up for meat, but then, he rarely was. Salads were gross, even if he didn't like meat all the time. "Yakisoba isn't bad," he said to himself, deciding that was what he was going to get since it wasn't expensive and it was basically just noodles with sauce.

"Well I'm getting chicken...I know Toya's mom really knows how to make it good." He said with a faint smile. When she came back with their drinks Damien placed both their orders before looking back at Aouri. He took a sip of his drink before reaching over and grabbing his hand, giving him a comforting smile, at least he hoped it was comforting.

"Chicken, huh?" Aouri said, since it was one of the meats he found as an occasional exception for being unappealing. He didn't remember the last time he had chicken, but maybe it was just the fact that his boyfriend was leaving him, overwhelming him and making him forget other less meaningful stuff right now. Aouri smiled weakly when his hand and Damien's were brought together. Damien was trying hard to stay strong too. "We'll be...okay," he whispered, mostly to himself.

Damien smiled though he couldn't help but have it falter as he looked Aouri over. He looked down at their hands then up at Aouri's face before leaning in and giving him another kiss, smaller since they were in public but enough to convey his feelings. When he pulled away he frowned, "Lets finish this food quickly...we should be spending more...quality time together." he said.

The sadness and anxiousness the both were feeling was conveyed with the exchange of a small kiss. Aouri's heart was racing painfully because of how depressing the situation was, and how quickly it was consuming them. "Yeah, I think that would be good." Spending the maximum amount of time together as possible was necessary. Who knew when they could do this again? He wanted to be alone with Damien for as long as they could stretch.

When Toya's mom brought their food she smiled at the two of them before leaving. Damien dug right into his food. Glancing over at Aouri every once and a while he didn't bother with a conversation and instead just ate, fast enough to be done quickly but slow enough to savor what he was eating at least a little because it was good. Within the next ten minutes he was done though and he leaned back with a sigh momentarily forgetting his problems over his bloated stomach. He sighed contentedly before his face became serious again as he looked at Aouri..."I'm ready to go when you are." he said with a weak smile.

Aouri wasn't quite as enthusiastic to eat as Damien seemed to be. He wasn't really that hungry. He still made an effort to look like he wasn't too affected with all that was happening. He had made an effort to eat what he could, and in the end, which was about ten minutes, he had more than half the dish gone. Quite decent work he'd say for something practically halfheartedly done. "I'm ready to go too," he said, setting down his eating utensils.

Damien smiled slightly as Aouri said he was done. He stood up and took Aouri's hand leading him up as well and continued to lead him towards the door, on the way out he waved to Toya's mom and she smiled lightly and nodded to the two of them. Damien sighed as he headed out the door and started down towards Aouri's house.

Aouri let Damien guide him to whatever he had in mind for the location of more quality time for the two. Whatever Damien wanted to do, Aouri would willingly go along with it and bear whatever it was. Even though he usually did this, he'd put twice the effort of enjoying himself. How lonely was the rest of life going to be without Damien? He couldn't enjoy any of things the same way without his boyfriend. Was this the last time they'd be doing these things? Even if either one came to visit, there would always be the fact that reality would return when one of them had to go back. Aouri found that Damien was leading him to his house, which, he also didn't mind. His house wasn't really that eventful, but he was pretty sure his parents would leave them alone.
