Diebus Fatalibus

Adam had memorized his scedual on the third day of school, not wanting to be late for one of his classes. "It's over at 12:00. . . which is in about half an hour" he said, checking the old battered watch on his wrist. He crossed one leg over the other, looking around the feild idly. There were a few other small groups of people around, but not very close. He glanced back at Mark, having no idea what to say, and feeling a bit awkward.

"Really? We still have half an hour..." He said in slight shock having expected more time then that to have gone by. He groaned slightly at his lack of conversation ideas and finally settled with, "So what are you doing after school?" A smile settled on his face as he finished with, "Do you wanna hang out?"

Adam was a bit taken aback by the question, never having been asked to hang out with anyone before. "Oh, um, sure I guess. I'm not doing anything, 'cause I don't have work tonight. Um, what do you wanna do?" he was pleased that he seemed to have found a friend, and they were already making plans to hang out. He smiled up at Mark, trying to think of something they could so, if the other neko didn't have any ideas.

Mark thought for a couple moments before he replied, "Well, maybe we can go see a movie or something. Then you can stay over a my house. I mean if it's alright with your parents and all." He said with a smile, scratching he back of his head.

Adam smiled and nodded, about to answer when he mentioned his parents. The blonde neko snorted and shook his head. "My parent's don't care about anything I do. I don't even live with them. . . havn't for a long time. But sounds good" he smiled, completely fine with living on his own. He would rather live on his own than with his parents, which would be obvious to anyone who knew his parents at all.

"Oh...heh...sorry, didn't know. But should be fun I can't wait." He said scraching the back of his head again his ears drooping slightly and his tail twitching a bit more, "Now we just have to think of something to do while we wait for lunch to end." he said sitting up on the branch he had been sitting on and grabbing on with his legs turning so he was upsidedown. He held his shirt up with one hand as looked at his new, now upsidedown, neko friend. Then his necklace fell off and he reached with both hands to try and grab i before it hit the ground with no luck and his shirt fell and covered his face and he grumbled slightly trying to push it and hold it back up as he looked at his silver necklace on the ground, "Um...could you get that."

Adam shrugged, not quite sure why Mark was appologizing. "Yeah, can't wait" he agreed, smiling. He raised an eyebrow as the short neko hung upside down from the branch he was sitting on, holding his shirt up, and then the necklace slid over his head and fell, hitting the ground just above his head. He couldn't help but laugh a bit at Mark flailing to get it, his shirt sliding to over his head, and he grinned. His eyes involentarily slid over Mark's exposed chest as he pushed his shirt back into place and he nodded, flipping over and grabbing the necklace, holding it out in front of the other neko.

With his free hand he snatched the necklace from him "Thanks...It's a miracle I haven't lost this thing, sure glad i haven't though...I'd be in soooo much trouble" He said with a laugh as he wrapped the necklace around hiw wrist a couple times and shook it to make sure it was tight enough to not fall off, "It's kind of a pain sometimes..."He said with a sigh.

Adam laughed, lying back down on the grass. "Wow. . . I'd probably have lost it already if it were me" he said with a grin. He really would have, probably while living on the streets, either losing it or having it stolen from someone, though he doubted that Mark had ever had to live on the streets. "Hmm. . . what's it like. . . living in a clan?" he asked curiously, having wondered it for a bit. His only family was his parents, and he didn't even concider them family anymore, even if they were related.

Mark laughed, stopping at Adam's question about living in a clan. He sighed, "Um...well...its been a while...let me think...." he thought hard his head was starting to hurt, not from thinking though, from hanging upside down. "Well...it's probably the same as humans all living together, or any sort of creature i guess...I've always been treats exceptionally well...my parents are the leader of Subdolus...I don't know how to explain it well though..." he said, having a lot of trouble trying to come up with something to say.

Adam was silent as Mark thought. He wouldn't really know what it was like with a bunch of anythign living together, always having lived with just his parents, or all by himself. "Heh wow. . ." he said, hearing that Mark had always been treated well. They were pretty much opposites, from what he knew at the moment. "So pretty much just a really big family?" he asked, pretty much just trying to confirm it. He didn't want to press too many questions on Mark, despite his curiosity.

Mark nodded, "Ya like a big family...why didn't I think of that one..." He thought the last part out loud. He really could be stupid at times, it was just the way he was, not very bright. He pulled himself back up so he was sitting on the branch up against the trunk because his head was starting to hurt.

Adam nodded, drifting into thought. It must be nice to live like that, with a bunch of other nekos, who all treated you well. He shook his head to clear the thoughts away, looking up at Mark, who was now sitting on the branchm the blood probably having rushed to his head too much. "So anything playing that you wanna see?" he asked, having no idea what movie they would go see. He normally changed the channel on his TV when commercials came on.

Mark shrugged at the question honestly not knowing what they could go see, "I don't know...we can pick when we're there i guess." He said with a laugh, "I don't pay enough attention to the TV to know what could possibly be playing. I'm a channel surfer." He said with another laugh. He was very glad to have found someone he could actually talk to and be friends with, even if they were almost exact opposites, he didn't care it's not like that really mattered anyway.

Adam grinned. Sounded good to him. "Okay, I never watch commercials" he said with a laugh. he wasn't really surprised to hear that Mark was a channel surfer. He seemed to like to be moving or changing activities alot, from the little that Adam had seen of him. "I hope there's something good out. . . but the theatre near here has alot of auditoriums, so there should be alot out" he commented, still trying to think of conversation topics. They still had about 20 minutes until the bell.

Mark smiled, "Ya? Cool." He laughed as a thought popped into his head and he wondered what this apparent 'goody goody' would think of it, "So how many movies do you think we'll be able to get in with one ticket? If the theatres as big as you say, we probably won't get caught for a long time if were sneaky enough." He smiled slyly at his own remark lowering his eye lids slightly, folding his ears back and lashing his tail, trying to look as evil as he could pull off. Which wasn't very.

Adam's eyes widened slightly when Mark asked how many movies they could get into. He opened his mouth to say something, but closed it again, not knowing what to say. "But. . . that's. . . that's like steating pretty much, isn't it?" he asked, not sure if the other neko was serious or not. Mark really wasn't doing a good job trying to look evil, but it was kinda funny looking. He couldn't be serious about sneaking into different movies though could he? If they got caught, they'd be in so much trouble. . .

Mark gave him a look, like an Oh-My-God-Are-You-Serious kind of look, "Well, ya, DUH, of course it's stealing." He said. It was, and he was not serious, he wasn't worried about getting in trouble, he was more worried about being guilty for so long he wouldn't be able to go the movies ever again in his life. He knew his dad wouldn't let him get in trouble, people who knew about the nekos knew that they were a powerful race and that the one living among them was pretty much royalty. Younger people didn't know that though, and a lot of adults didn't, or didn't care. It was a shame really.

Adam shifted uncomfortably, not knowing what to say to that. "But. . . we can't. . . are you serious?" he spluttered, his face flushing a bit in embarassment. He was mostly worried that they would get in trouble and find his parents' phone number in the phone book, since his last name was pretty unique. . . and he had his student ID in his pocket, but the guilt alone would probably make him go back and pay for it if they didn't get caught, and he would never go back there, not able to stand sitting in the theatre again.

Mark's wannabe serious face started to falter as he looked at the look on Adam's face. Mark couldn't help it but he burst out laughing. "NO! Of course I'm not serious. I'm not THAT stupid..." He said laughing clutching his stomach. "WOAH" he yelled as he lost his balance and fell out of the tree, onto Adam still under the tree. "Oww..."

Adam opened his mouth to protest that Mark was that stupid, though he didn't know how smart the other neko was anyways, when he lost his balance in the tree and Adam's eyes widened slightly. "Oof" he grunted as he felt the weight drop onto him. "Ugh, are you ok?" he asked, rubbing his head where he had hit it on the ground, though he wasn't sure how he managed that. Noticing that Mark was pretty much lying on him his face flushed, though he didn't want to shove the other neko off to get up, not sure if he was hurt or anything.

Mark rolled over so he was on his back lying next to Adam. He glared at the sky, cursing gravity in his mind. He looked at Adam as he pulled himself into a sitting position and he smirked as he saw Adam's red face, "Ya, I'm fine." He said in reply his tail swishing behind him, "But your face is all red. Are you alright?" He said holding back a laugh.

Adam laughed slightly at the question and he got to feet. "Yeah, I'm ok" he said with a grin, forcing the blush down. He checked the time on his watch quickly before sighing. They didn't have much more time before the bell would ring. He shook some of his blonde hair out of his face and offered his hand to help Mark up, hoping to avoid the topic of his red face.

Mark rolled his eyes and laughed. Adam didn't want to talk about it, he was fine with that. He could poke and prod at it later if he felt like it. He took the hand that was offered and used it to lift himself up easily. He brushed off his clothes and put his necklace back around his neck. His tail swinging slowly behind him, "So class is going too start soon?" he asked look up at Adam. Up...looking up...just like always...it made his tail twitch slightly.

Adam sighed and nodded. "Yeah, we've got about 10 minutes until the bell. . . and it's always better to be early or else you're never going to make it to class on time with the crowds. . . what do you have next anyways?" he asked, bending down to stuff the container and empty water bottle into his platic bag, picking it up and straightening up again.
