A Sight to See

"Mhmm. That works" Draylen agreed, looking at his wall as he spoke. "So, ah, I'll talk to you later?" he asked, always feeling awkward to only call for a minute or so, but there really wasn't much to talk about, since they had just talked to each other, and they would see each other at work anyways. He looked down from the wall as his cat nudged his hand, demanding his attention and looking at him with an accusitive look.

"Blinding, talk to you later then," he replied, "cheers." Nathaniel hung up after that, looking up the number of the recent call and saving it after filling out the information to at least remember who he was. He didn't have that many contacts in here now that he was adding one. He had his parent's numbers, his house, and his brother's phone, which was rarely used since the child hadn't much a use for it except games. He kept his cell phone on most of the time in the event that someone needed to reach him quickly. He let his phone fall to the bed, no damage done to the already pretty beaten up phone. He took care of his stuff, but with time things happened.

"Mm'kay, bye" Draylen replied, hanging up as well, slightly confused as to what 'blinding' was, but he figured it was something like saying 'cool'. "I made a new friend today, Kitty. He can read tarot cards!" he said to his tortoiseshell cat, pulling him to his chest. He often spoke to this cat, the other, Neko, being more antisocial. But he did have his moments of friendliness.

Nathaniel looked over to see his dogs entering the room one at a time since they followed each other almost where ever they went. If they were human, Nathaniel could see them as being best friends or something. "Kendall, " he sighed as the spotted leader had been the one to nose the door open with his great muzzle. "Why did you bring Ellard and Sawyer with you?" he asked him, gesturing to the black great dane and the brown coated great dane. "You guys aren't supposed to come in here. Your tails break things, see, and I need the stuff in here." The dogs looked at him expectantly. "Right. You want a walk. I can do that."

Two weeks he had been chatting up with Draylen, mostly at work, sometimes he actually texted him or called him if he had time or felt like it. He didn't like talking on the phone or texting every day, maybe it was every other day. He had come to like the other male respectively, even though he wished he handled the ghosts more effectively. Nathaniel wished he could help him and the ghosts out. Draylen made his day interesting by all of his spirit talk, they had been geting more and more into knowing each other. Draylen didn't talk about too many people except dead ones, Nathaniel had been getting curious if the other was single or not. He had been debating if he should ask flat out or beat around the bush and try to get Draylen to admit something.

It had been about two weeks Draylen had been getting to know Nathaniel, at work, and occasionally over the phone. It was nice, getting a new friend, especially one who understood what he could do, and could do something somewhat similar. He was currently restocking the shelves in A&F, working at a moderate pace, having to go around shoppers while he tried to do his job, wondering what Nathaniel was doing, since he was in the room, he could feel. He didn't have the time to check though, and he would after he finished, unless the other came to talk to him.

Draylen was somewhere in the store, Nathaniel just wasn't in that section at the moment, it would seem. He wandered around looking for people who needed help finding something. He liked being in the men's section more than the women's since he got less people asking for help, especially when they didn't actually need it. He got a few males asking for help, a few females who wandered all the way to where he was instead of waiting for him to wander there. He had seen Draylen once in the store when he was working, but Dray hadn't seen him, plus, he had been busy, he couldn't stop a customer from getting help just to ask a personal question.

Draylen finished up with his restocking, looking around for anything else that needed to be done, which seemed to be nothing other than customer service. He asked a couple of girls if they needed help, and thankfully they said no, so he nodded and left, wandering the store. He walked to where Nath was, navigating his way through clothes and girls, to see his friend. "Hey" he greeted, smiling slightly, ignoring looks they were getting from the occasional girl.

"Ah, hullo," he greeted, "what have you been up to?" Other than working, and avoiding females, maybe. Oh, but that was about all they did when they were here, wasn't it? He couldn't wait to find a better paying job some time, something with good hours like this. Sticking around here was kind of 'might as well' because it fit to his schedule perfectly. How many other jobs was he going to find that would accept him and his schedule so easily? He was sure this place had gone with it just to keep him working here.

"Not much really, just stocking shelves" Dray shrugged, making a bit of a face. That was always a boring job, so he rushed through it to get it done. "I'm probably going to have to take over at the cash soon though" he added, glancing over at the bored looking girl sitting there. He preferred working the cash, for some reason. "What about you?" he asked, tilting his head to the side to await the answer.

"Waiting to get off work, apparently." Nathaniel shrugged, "I wanna talk to you after work, is that all right?" he asked, "if you're free and if you want to." They could go out for coffee or something, maybe wander again. They did some wandering around the mall when they left work together, though they usually didn't do much except for walking and talking. "I think I have a few hours left before I head out. Dunno what I'll do after I'm done here though." He needed to sound casual, their usual walk-around.

"Yeah, alright" Draylen nodded, since he had no plans, as usual. Nathaniel was the only person other than his parents that he saw often now. "I've got a few hours left as well, sadly" he said, rolling his eyes. As hard as it was to annoy him, this job just bothered him. Normally, he was very well tempered. He glanced back to the cash to see the girl preparing to leave, and he figured she was going to come get him, for his turn to watch it. "Ah, I've gotta go, but I'll see you after work then" he said, giving a bright smile and a wave, heading off to take over.

Nathaniel bid him a goodbye until their shift ended. He turned to the next people asking for help, a girl and her boyfriend. No flirting this go, thankfully, he noted. He had to prepare what he was going to ask from Draylen later today.

Once he was off work, he went over to the cash register that Draylen had been assigned to. He waited for the other male to finish up, his question was prepared. "Dray," he called, "done yet or do I need to wait longer?" he asked, leaning against the counter.

Draylen spent the rest of his shift at the cash, either helping people, or looking around the store, often watching Nathaniel work, for lack of a better thing to do. When it was finally time for his shift to end, Nath was there already. "Yeah, I'm ready, hold on a sec" he said, pulling off his name tag and shoving it in his pocket, getting up as the next person approached to take over. He walked around the counter to his British friend, smiling brightly at him. "Alright, we can go now" he said, shaking some of his hair back.

"Blinding," he replied, smiling back at his American friend. Draylen was gradually getting used to his speech, he thought. At least, he wasn't asking as many questions as before. Maybe he was just waving it away or listening to the words around it like he had suggested. "I'm not thinking of any place special, but maybe somewhere we can just sit down and chat?" he asked, wondering how long this would take to ask him out.

Draylen considered what he said, thinking of places. There was always Starbucks, since he hadn't had a problem with the ghost there since the first time he was there with Nathaniel, but he didn't think there were many other places anyways. Other than the food court of course, but that wasn't as nice an environment. "Wanna hit up Starbucks?" he asked, not caring if his suggestion was dashed or not.

"Yeah, why not." As long as Dray didn't have another eppy, he was fine with that. They could avoid the table corner too where he said the ghost was. Too bad it seemed to know how to move now. He had to figure that ghost would want something out of Draylen and eventually find a way to move to get it out of him. He wanted to tell the other male with Sight that the ghost might just be able to move locations, larger locations, maybe follow him home, if he didn't confront him and solve the problems it seemed to think the male could fix.

"Alright" Dray nodded, turning to head out of the store, away from his personal hell. Nath being there a lot of the time made it better, just by simple looks, or a few words, and sometimes even just because he could feel him. "It always feels so nice to walk away from there" he said with a light sigh, smiling slightly. "Don't you think?" he asked, looking up to the reader for his opinion.

"Hm, I suppose." He wished he was more in tune to seeing spirits, or hearing them. Whispers on the occasion made him think maybe he was hearing things, but they were never very clear for him to hear. Seeing was just seeing the air moving, that didn't help in the slightest. "Hey, er, have you ever had a girlfriend?" he asked, starting the question early. It was a little less awkward to start the question walking and not needing to look right at him like he would at Starbucks. "I mean, just curious."

Draylen hooked his fingers in his belt loops as he walked, just for something to do. He often did something like that, just to feel like he was doing something, and not just walking. He looked up at the question, before looking away, not having expected that. "Well, uhh, yeah, in grade six, but ah, then I found out I don't actually. . . swing that way?" he explained, feeling awkward, looking off to the side as he was sure his face heated up a bit.

That answer worked for him well. Nathaniel may only be what his dad called him as "half a nancy boy," or as people in England knew him as, "a Bender," but he found little interest in girls compared to interest in males. "What did you do to find out?" he asked, curious to learn more of this new fact obtained through casual questioning. "How many people have you gone out with?" Well, maybe that question wasn't the best to ask, that might actually invoke a feeling of minor pointless jealousy. He had gone out with a few people in England, but not that many.

Draylen glanced up at Nathaniel through his lashes, slightly confused as to why he was asking these questions. "Well, to put it in short, I kissed a boy, and I liked it" he explained, shrugging. "Umm, four" he replied, one having been the girl in the sixth grade, and the other three during highschool. His last boyfriend had been a year older, and had left him to go to University. He didn't ask why Nath was asking, but he shrugged it off, figuring there didn't have to be a reason for everything.

"Well said," he commented, noting the reference. He could say the same for himself, to an extent. The only thing was, it had been reverse for him. A boy had kissed him and he hadn't minded it. He hadn't gone out with people until mid high school, a little earlier than that, but had taken interest in people around middle school. Despite what people claimed to be 'good looks' he wasn't much for going out with other people. Almost a wallflower in life, and not quite.

Draylen laughed slightly at the comment, looking away again. "So, uh, what about you?" he asked, pretty much just returning the questions. Now that it was brought up, he was rather curious. He was glad that Nathaniel wasn't instantly disgusted by him, as he was always afraid people would be, even if he openly said it anyways. What he thought was that this was what he was, and people could accept it or not. That was their choice.

"Hm, bisexual," he said, "though the ratio of males to females is a tipped balance. I haven't gone out much, but at least enough to say I've dated more boys than girls." His preferences usually worked more for how interesting the person was, how they treated him, and how well he knew them. Intelligence helped a lot, since he didn't want to be with someone who had to ask every other sentence what he was saying. "I haven't dated since I came to America though, and I broke up the last relationship I had since we were moving here."

"Oh, really? That's cool" Draylen said, smiling brightly and looking back up. That would be the reason Nathaniel didn't mind then. It was always nice to have a friend who knew what you were talking about, or how you felt with things, and that was two things that he and the other male shared now. "Ahh, yeah, I get that. Must have sucked to have to leave like that" he frowned slightly, wondering what it would be like to just move countries like that. Continents even.
