A lonley Cutter (OPEN FOR ANYONE)

The reporter listened to everything and jotted down his notes. Dispite her injuries, which he was sure would have made any other person feel out of it, she seemed quite perked up and energetic. She was answering the questions and he was getting a lot of information. At the moment not even his boss knew he had made it into the hospital. Out side there were news media from the major US media centers and German ones. TV, CNN, every thing. All wanting to get a chance to talk to Dani and Alex.

Alex had given an interview of sorts to all the news media but there were so many more questions that all of them wanted to know. He was getting that information now. He would have the scoop. He could just see the face of his boss when he made his call after he got done.

Alex answered some more quetions that the reporter had. They sat there relaxed and talked for some time. Finally the man had run out of questions and he looked at all the notes he had taken. Alex chuckled a bit as he saw him thumbing through the notes. The man looked up at both of them. "You might not consider yourselves heroes. That you were just doing your job or what was right. But that is what makes you heroes. You never think of yourselves in all those situations. It is always the other person or persons, civilian or soldier, that you are concerned about. That is what people call heroes." he smiled.

He rose from his chair and shook Alex's hand and then took Dani's hand and shook it. "Thank you for the interview. I will make sure my boss makes that donation."

Alex took him out and down the hall. There one of the MP's took over and escorted the man out of the building. Some of his colleages saw him being escorted out and the smile on his face told more then any words. They began hounding him, asking what he had found out, what he had gotten. He was on his cell phone to his boss the moment he was out of the building.

When Alex returned he was a bit more sober now. The effects of the beer was slowly wearing off. He again bent over her and kissed her deeply before sitting down in the chair.

Although she was in agony and she hated rehashing everything she knew that it wouldn’t be the last time and was grateful that her first time was with Alex at her side. She listened to his answers and then let them chat. She sat up when he stood and shook his hand then smiled about the donation “Thank you”

She watched them leave then let the tears fall. She had now killed two people. Those people had families. Had parents, even terrorists had family didn’t they? She knew that she had to go back to Texas and neither her brother nor her husband could return with her. If her calculations were right she would be going through labour alone too. Alex was going to miss the labour of their babies and likely the first month if not more. She was being foolish of course but she was so drained. She had been through so much in such a short time, less then Warriors had gone through but her body was shutting down on her.

She continued to cry until she heard footsteps she quickly wiped the tears from her eyes and turned to the door. She smiled weakly at Alex and kissed him back. She moaned slightly as he broke the kiss she looked at him. “I love you Alex”

She pointed to the sweater. “Can you put that on, it no longer smells like you” She licked her lips then winced. She couldn’t get comfortable she reached out to get his hand. “Baby can you just at least hold my hand” She wanted him to hold her, but he seemed too scared of hurting her. She hoped that the fact that her body was writhed in pain would get past him. She hoped that he was still too drunk to notice the pain medicine was empty so even the automatic drop was no longer working.

She was dreading saying goodbye. She knew that the two of them would have a harder time leaving her. She was still battered and pregnant. She would have to be strong for them to tell them to go. She was weary but more then just tired everything in her was tired, her mind, body and even her heart. She looked at Alex and smiled. “I know you wont but I really wish you would lay with me and hold me” Her voice quivered as she tried to smile for him and remain brave even though the pain was causing her whole body to tense.

Alex didn't miss her wiping her eyes. She had been through a lot and now needed to be comforted. Also knowing that he was going to be going back into a war zone was not helping much. He sat down on the edge of the bed and kicked his shoes off. When she asked him to wear the hoodie to get his sent back on it, he smiled and nodded.

The nurse came in and shook her head as she saw the IV. "How are you doing? Are you in any pain?" she asked. Her trained eye could see Dani's facial expression and the way here body moved. "As I thought. I'll be back with more here in a few minutes."

When the nurse left, he scrunched up onto the bed to lie next to his wife. He put an arm about her and pulled her to him. "Now you tell me if I am hurting you." he looked at her sternly, "No hedging on it either." He knew he could not sleep that way with her but it seemed she needed to be cuddled a bit and let her know that he loved her.

As soon as he looked at her Dani knew that he hadn’t been fooled she knew that he was not stupid. She sighed as he sat down on her bed. She smiled as he really going to lay with her? She nodded as he put on the hoddie “Thanks babe, I sleep with it on” She blushed slightly “It’s like you and my scarf”

When the nurse came in Dani bit her lip but then nodded as the nurse left. She turned back to Alex as he finally laid beside her. “Baby just lay with me until I fall asleep? You know the meds make me sleepy” She bit her lip “I will tell you” She yawned and sighed and cuddled into him more. “I love you dearly” She closed her eyes and breathed in his scent and held his hands wanting to feel him again. She couldn’t go on her side or anything though since her leg was wrapped and so were both her arms she took his hand and kissed it.

The nurse came back in Dani started to beg her to let Alex stay there but the nurse held her hand up. “So where is that strapping husband of yours?” Dani smiled and mouthed a “Thank you” When the medicine was administered Dani sighed. “Baby when I fall asleep you should call your mom and get some rest yourself, I want to get some pictures tomorrow done of your hands on my stomach and kissing it, you know…the corny pictures”

Plans were already in the making to get the first baby pictures to Alex. Just a printed copy of the ultrasound but made in a size that he could have in his uniform pocket and the pictures that Dani had talked about, people already guessed that she would want it. Even pictures of both of them even with her bruising and her brother, a family protriet.

Slowly Dani fell asleep to Alex breathing and words of comfort. He seemed to know just what she needed to hear.

At home Mary was staring at the phone willing it to ring. Her son could call before he left Germany right? When was Dani coming home, how was she? How were the babies? She couldn’t believe all the things her daughter in law had gone through in such a short time. She had Dr Parks setting up appointments just in case Dani needed it.

Alex let her go to sleep in his arms and then he just lay there for a bit. Once Dani deep asleep he eased himself off the bed and sat in the chair. He took out his cell phone and called his mom. He knew she would be frantic about what was going on, even though Dr. Parks and others probably had given her updates.

"Hi Mom. Yes I am alright. No I am not injured. Dani is fine. She is sleeping right now." He sat there and talked to his mother for a good while. Letting her know what had happened. She had heard the news reports and told about it by others but hearing it from him he thought was important and would make sure she was not worried any more.

She told him that Dr. Parks had set aside time to see Dani and talk to her after she got back. He was well aware of what she probably was going through and was going to help her through it. Alex was glad that someone would be there for her to ease mental strain that she had been through. He looked over at her sleeping, again seeing her injuries. He had not been there to protect her, when the soldier when crazy. He did not want his mother or Dani to know how much that bothered him. Here he was in a war to help protect the US but he couldn't protect his wife.

Being so far away, in a war, against an enemy one could not really see until it was to late, was hard enough. Now to worry about his wife and her safety.

In the other room Dustin woke up and used the bathroom. He stumbled to the bed again, his head hurting and his stomach churning. Oh why had he drank so much? He sat in a chair leaning over some. He took out his cell phone and sighed. He had not talked to Debbie is a while. The Company had been busy and he had been out in front of the fighting. He dialed her number and waited for her to answer. "Hey babe." He told her he was in Germany to see his sister.

Feeling safe with Alex with her Dani fell asleep quickly and soundly. The pain meds helped too. The nurse made sure that her pain meds would automatically dispense. She would have to be weened off of them but why do it now when her body was still healing from her first experinance and now she had her 2nd hostage situation and being pregnant, and soon her husband and brother would both be leaving her so yes for now she would have the pain meds.

The Nurses left them alone. They all knew what hell they had all been going through and the fact that Dani would be again saying good bye kept everyone away. Giving them their time. Meanwhile Dani slept soundly. Whimpering only slightly when Alex left her side she frowned deep in her sleep but when he began to talk to his mom his voice seemed to lull her even deeper into sleep.

Meanwhile Dustin was getting yelled at by a frantic Debbie. She was ranting about him endanging himself and playing ramboo, Debbie was in one breath yelling and in the next breath bawling her eyes out letting him know that she loved him. Dustin rubbed his head he had a pounding headach but let her do all that she needed to get out.

They talked for awhile and Dustin had to tell her that he wasnt coming home, that he was going back. Debbie went off again telling him to be careful. "Dont you dare leave this baby with out a daddy Dustin" Debbie laughed at the silence and then they said their "I love yous" then hung up.


In other areas of the hospital plans were being made, a photographer was coming to get some family photos done. They had programs that would make all the burises on Dani’s face go away if she so choose. They had ideas, Alex kissing her belly and such. They had already printed off labled pictures for both Alex and Dustin. They all could tell that Dani and Dustin were close.

In the morning a nurse came in with clothes for both of them. A clean uniform for Alex and some nice shirts for Dani one had two peas in a pod and it said “Army Brats on Board” and another said “Our Dad is a Soldier in the USA Army” Then a nice outfit. Dani was given a sponge bath and her hair was brushed and she was put in the out fits. Then the pictures were taken. A lot of Dani’s belly and from the neck down the photographer had Alex kiss the belly and put his hands on it then Dani finally agreed to have pictures with her whole body in the picture. There were many other photos taken.

Dani had been surprised by it all but loved the idea. She wanted the pictures and this was going to be her only chance with Alex. Even Dustin got in for some with a shirt that said “I am a uncle” Dani was laughing by the end of it. Once it was all done they handed all three of them a picture of the ultrasound. Then a CD to Alex

“This has your babies first video, and their heart beats”

Dani turned to Alex. “I know you hate your pictures taken thank you for that though” She took his hand to her stomach again. “I love you” She was growing tired again but smiled for him “Want to get some lunch” She didn’t want to ask but she had to know “When are you…” she trailed off hoping that he would get the point, she needed to know when he had to leave her.

Dustin now had a moment to really think and was confused. Dani noticed and asked what was up finally she got his attention and he spoke. "So I talked to Debbie last night, she told me to be careful and not to leave the baby with out a dad"

Dani squeeled and clapped her hands. "My dream is true" Dustin looked up at them. "But...she was on the pill and" Dani shrugged 'Doesnt always work" She smiled "Now you will be daddy and uncle how do you feel"

Dustin had listened to Debbie go after him for always being out in the front where the fighting was always the most fierce. He knew he shouldn't have been doing that but he had found that he was a fighting man, a warrior. Perhaps it came from him being competitive when he was on the football team. He didn't know. He tried his best to calm her and had succeeded to some degree. Then she laid the bombshell and he was in shock.

When he came into Dani's room looking all confused and repeated what Debbie had said, his sister when wild. Alex chuckled and shook head. "Well now looks like I will not be the only one to be a new father. HMMMMMM I think an early wedding is going to be needed here." He rose from his chair and guided Dustin to it so he could sit down. He patted him on the shoulder and chuckled.

Dani seemed to be estatic about it all and when asked about how he felt about it all Dustin looked at his sister with a kind of lost look. "Scared." he told her. "It scares the hell out of me. I can face a score of Taliban in a fire fight and not be afraid, but this..........."

Dani smiled then patted her brother’s hand. “My dear brother, its okay to be scared, but you will make a great father, we had the best example even if it was just for a while” She sighed “I will look after her until you get home, maybe she can move in with me and Mary, she could probably stay in your room.”

She turned to Alex “Do you think your mom would mind much babe?” She leaned her head back and sighed looking over the two men she loved with all her heart. She knew that both of them would be leaving soon. It did not get passed her that Alex did not anserw about when they were leaving. She knew she looked a mess and could see the way Alex looked at her. There was pain there, but it looked like anger, was he angry at himself for her getting hurt? She remembered what he had said when they were in Iraq and she wanted to go find Dustin. His worst fear was something happening to her and him not being able to stop it. What happened wasn’t his fault but she had a feeling that’s why he was acting a little distant.

She turned to Dustin. “Brother you are a great man you will be a great father” She smiled at both of them. “Both of you will do great” She was trying her best to comfort them even though deeply she wanted and needed comfort too. She was going to be saying good bye to both of them soon. She was still healing but she was really worried about them. She sighed. “So we will all be going through it all together seems that’s how we do everything”

Dani's encouragement helped a bit but he was still scared. He was young. Hell he was just out of highschool and had just joined the army. Then there was Debbie's father and Mother. Oh how was he going to face them? "Oh my god, her father is going to kill me." he mumbled.

Alex shook his head at Dustin and grinned. Then he turned to Dani. "I think she would love the idea." Having both of them there, helping them through all that they would be going through. Then he turned back to Dustin, "Well I am sure they are probably planning an early wedding, before the baby is born."

Back home Debbie's mother was helping Debbie cope with her being pregnant and Dustin being over seas in a war zone. Her father was not to pleased to learn that she was pregnant but he took it in stride. He knew how Dustin felt about her and that they had been talking about marriage and how Dustin had strived to earn his respect and show he would be a good husband for Debbie. He knew it was not a fling or anything and that was something that made him not rant and rave about it. It just meant that Debbie and Dustin would be getting married alot sooner then they had planned on. Then to the prospect of having a grand child, perhaps even a grandson made him smile.

Dr. Parks had come over to see Mary and see how she was holding up. She let him know that Alex had called. "Yes Dani is going to have to have a bit of councelling herself now. She has gone through quite a tramatic experience here in the last few days." he let her know that he had been in touch with the doctors at the hospital in Germany. "She will be returning home in a couple days after they are sure she can travel."

Back in Germany the Army Commander at the military base there received word that Alex and Dustin were to return to Afganistan in a couple days. He knew that was not going to be a welcomed order. He sent one of his officers to the hospital to inform Alex and Dustin as well as Dani.

Patting her brother’s hand Dani smiled. “Dustin you will do great, and trust me your father in law wont kill you, it will upset Debbie” She tried to make a joke to ease the fear in her brother. She looked up at both then men, she couldn’t hide the fear in her eyes this time though. She was scared of losing them. Scared of being alone, she wouldn’t say anything though, she wouldn’t let them know the extent of her fear.

Back at home it was agreed that Debbie would move into Mary’s home even before Debbie had met Dustin her parents had planned a 6month cruise around the world. So they didn’t want her to be alone. Debbie’s mom had thoughts of cancelling it but Debbie would have none of that. “You guys have been planning this for years you are going” Her father seemed upset but understood the failure of birth control. He knew that Dustin would take care of her.

Back in Germany Dani just got the news she shook her head. “Am I to stay here and help?” The look she got from all the men caused her to sigh. “Guess not” She wanted Alex to hug her right now but couldn’t lift her arms up to him she looked at him to see if he could get the idea

Dustin looked at his sister and shook his head. Dustin saw her eyes and sat on the side of the bed and took her hands in his. "Don't worry sis, Alex and I will be back. Remember, we are part of the Immortals." he gave her a brave smile. He still didn't know how they were doing it, how they were going out and into the heat of the fight and not getting killed or seriously wounded. Were they being watched over? He could not explain it and he really didn't want to even try. Why look a gift horse in the face.

Alex sat down on the edge of the bed as well facing Dustin and smiled, then bent over and gave her a big hug. "He is right." he told Dani.

The two days passed fast, to fast it seemed to Alex. Both Alex and Dustin were in BDUs and ready to return to Afganistan. The doctor and nurses got Dani ready for her trip back to the states. She would be flying home on a military transport that was used to take those wounded soldiers that needed more care, back to the states. Her plane left first and both Dustin and Alex saw her to the plane. Alex kissed her deeply and held her tightly to him. "Take care of mom and Debbie." Alex told her. A short time later they watched her plane take off and then gathered their things and went to the gate that their plane would be leaving from.

Hours later they were landing in Afganistan and being picked up by their squads. All their tactical gear was there and their weapons. On the hummves a long whip antenia, a black triangular flag with a big White I in the middle of it flew. As they drove away from the airport to their battalion area, the people seeing those flags gave a nod of a head to them. All knew that members of the Immortals were in those vehicles. There was a large warm welcome for Alex and Dustin when they made it back. Everyone was very happy to see Alex back. Above the Battalion area flew his battle flag. He looked up at it and smiled.

Even with her lip swollen Dani bit it to stop the tears she winced then sighed. “I know, blame it on the pregnancy hormones I am just a little weepy” She smiled at her brother. “You have grown into a great man Dustin” She touched his hand then hugged Alex as tight as she could in her weakened state. She licked her swollen lips she was still a bit swollen but was looking a lot better. Her eyes were still swollen but she could see a little better. She kept her brave face on and nodded “I know you know will be fine, you are my immortals”

The next two days passed too quickly for Dani. It was a whirl wind some physical theapy for Dani which she hated but what was bareable with Alex by her side. She still had to be in the wheel chair she could take small steps but it was hard on her.
Soon she was saying her good bye but she didn’t say that she said “See you soon” and ordered them to bring something back for her. She was placed on the transport with other wounded Soldiers. She waved. The plane ride was long but she didn’t sleep, she couldn’t, she talked to the Soldiers, comforted them, played games, avoided taking anything her nurse gave her. “I can’t have a nightmare here” She explained. “I know they are coming, I just can’t be screaming here” The nurse nodded but made a mental note to tell Dr Parks her fear.

After 12 hours Dani was touching down, she hadn’t slept. She had helped the Warriors, talked to them reassured them. Everything that she did normally at the VA so many were amazed that she had done so much she was able to put their fears to ease. She had been held captive just like they had been. She looked beat up and exhausted. Her belly was just beginning to show.

She had a small argerment with her nurse about not wanting her chair, she eventually won out when she convinced her nurse that one of the Soldiers needed it but she would push him off the plane. Once they landed and the critical were taken off Dani pushed off the Soldier that was greated by his weeping family. They all hugged Dani too.

Dani looked around then smiled. There was Mary and Debbie but shuddered when she say Dr. Parks. She put on a brave face, Dr Parks she knew would have been told everything including her fear of sleep. She lifted her head and even though her fingers were moving nervously at her side.

She knew she looked a fright, still really beat up and swollen she was shaky on her feet but walked to Debbie and Mary and hugged them and then Dr. Parks. “Hello everyone” she said with a smile. She looked at Dr. Parks. “How are my guys” she asked referring to those that were injured in the first hostage situation.

The soldiers on board the plane were Army and Marines. They knew who Dani was. They had seen the films and news casts. They knew what she did and they listened to her as she talked to them. One of the marines, shook his head. "Your husband should have been a marine! He has the guts and the drive to be one."

When the plane landed Dr Parks, Mary and Debbie were waiting for her to come off. Many of the families of the soldiers were also there to see their husbands, sons, brothers and the like. Mary gave Dani a big hug and so did Debbie. Dr Parks just stood there watching Dani and noticing her nerviousness and how tired she looked. He noticed her fingers and here eyes. He shook his head. She was trying to be tough and brave about it all but he knew underneath it all it was quite different. She was scared of having nightmares like Alex had once had. She was afraid of looking weak and unable to do the job she wanted to do.

He waited untill Mary and Debbie got done before he approached her. "Welcome home." he said to her. "I would ask how you are doing and taking it all, but I already can see that." he told her with a slight smile on his lips. "You can't fool the doctor, especially one that has seen more and studied more cases then you could ever imagine." He put an arm about her shoulders as they walked to the waiting car.

"You are going to rest and get some sleep. I know you are probably afraid of having nightmares but that is something we will have to work on. But first we will have a nice talk where you can tell me all about your fears." He was going to get her through it all and get her back to her old self. Not only for her sake but those soldiers at the VA that needed her special ways.

In Afganistan as Alex and Dusting were again getting settled in to their respective company's quarters, Alex got word that there was someone wanting to see him at the entrance to the Battalion Area. Alex was a bit bewildered. He really didn't know any one outside of soldiers, someone that was not allowed into the military compound. He followed the soldier that had come to get him and they walked to the entrance.

When they reached it, he saw a man there, dressed much like any afgan male. But when he turned to look at Alex, he recgonized the man. The same insurgent that he had talked to in Iraq that had inturned began the end of the terroist attacks in that country. Alex smiled and shook the man;s hand. "You were right my friend. Give them a chance and see. Things are not bad, needs a little more work but I think they will get there." the man told Alex.

"What are you doing here." Alex asked.

"Come to help try and do the same that we have done in my country." he told Alex. "You and your unit have made a name for themselves. Among the faithful you have become more then an enemy. Some think that Allah has sent you to purge the faithful of those that use his words pursue thier own agenda. They believe that your unit is his right hand and that he protects your soldiers. The majority of the people do not like the Taliban but fear them. My people have come to talk to them, to encourage them and tell them what you have done to bring peace to my people."

"There are leaders among the people of Afganistan that wish to talk to you."

Alex was dumbfounded. "I will have to discuss this with my commander." Alex told him.

"Understood. But make it quick, for they are afraid the Taliban will find out and come for them."

"Come with me then." Alex said and nodded to the guards to let him come in. He lead the man, whose name he had not yet learned. Even back in Iraq he had not known it. Alex took him to the company commander's office and said, "This is the man I talked to in Iraq. He is the one that has helped gather all those leaders of the insurgents."

"Abdul." the man said with a smile. "Just call me Abdul."

Dani knew she couldn’t fool Dr. Parks but she tried to smile for him. “I am okay, just a bit tired, don’t really like sleeping on planes” She sighed and licked her lips. “I notice that you didn’t answer my question though, how are my guys?” She shook her head smiling ignoring his statement the decided that wasn’t the best choice, “I am fine I will be in to…talk…soon” Her eyes betrayed her. The vision of the first hostage situation replayed before her.

Walking to the car her eyes were searching everywhere. When Mary touched her she jumped. “Just over tired, add the time change and I cant even think about how many hours that I have been awake.” It didn’t look anyone belived her so she was ushered into the car with Debbie by her side and Mary in the front passenger seat and Dr. Parks drove.

Dani looked out the window and sighed. She had on the hoddie but it just wasn’t the same. She didn’t know how this would affect his deployment. But she figured that she would be delivering alone. She swallowed hard. Debbie took her hand and squezzed it. Dani smiled “Just gotta get used to be back ya know, culture shock for a bit” She licked her lips and looked out the window.

Driving home they turned down the road that the VA was on Dani perked up thinking that she was going to get out of sleeping just yet but Mary and Debbie both looked at her and gave her a resounding “NO” Dani pouted. “Fine” She was shaking inside, she breathed in his scent. She was back in their special spot, she was wrapped his arms and he was whispering that he loved her. Before she relized it Debbie touched her she jumped and looked around. “We are home” Debbie said gently.

Dani looked around. Dr. Parks came around and helped her. Getting her luggage and checked her over. “They are healing nice” Dani nodded. “Yah” Dr Parks sighed and handed her some pills. “The nurse gave me these, they are safe for your babies, your body in pain is not though your body will begin to go into defence mode it might read the babies as a parasite and well get rid of them” Dani paled and the Dr held her up. “Just take the meds, they will help you sleep too”

He helped her into the house where she was met by a very excited Skye and Comet she held them and laughed and then walked into the kitchen gave them both a treat then sat down for the stew that Mary had cooked for her. She ate it actually hungry and knowing her babies needed it. She talked to them but changed the topic when anything got to personal. She talked a lot about how Dustin and Alex were doing. Recounting the story about how he felt out how he was told he was going to be a dad. Debbie laughed then sighed. “Yeah I guess we sorta do everything together don’t we” Dani smiled. They had come a far way.

Eventually everyone ushered her to bed. Dr. Parks had left his number for her or anyone to use. Before he left he made sure that she had taken the medicine then Mary tucked her into bed and secretly turned on the baby monitor so she would be able to hear if she had dreams. Her dog and cat laid on her bed with her. Although she tried to fight it she eventually fell asleep.

The nightmares came shortly after. Just replaying of the events she was exposed to when she was in Germany. “No Alex” She was whimpering and shaking her head side to side. “NO GET DOWN” She was now screaming. “You bastards” This time they had killed him. Killed Alex in front of her she was screaming more while her dog was trying to wake her up by licking her face but Dani was locked in it too deep.

Before Dr Parks left he talked to Mary. Just in case Dani had nightmares, one of them needed to sit with her a bit and comfort her. He had learned from what Dani and Alex had done to keep his nightmares away and had implemented something like it for those patients having them. A wife, a mother, father or sister or girlfriend would be available to sit and comfort them. Talk to them as they slept, try to get them to come out of the nightmare into a more pleasant dream.

Mary had the other end of the monitor in her room and close by so she could hear what went on in Dani's room. When she heard Dani mumbling she rose and went into the room and took one of her hands and began talking to her, softly. Dr. Parks knew that after a time the nightmares would fade as she healed and got more confident with herself again. Also when she was able to get back to work, that would help her as well. No better therapy then helping others with theirs.

"Its alright Skeys." Mary petted the dogs head. "She will be alright."

In Afganistan Abdul and Alex along with the Company Commander and Battalion commander worked out the details for Alex to go meet these trible and civil leaders. They didn't like it having Alex go alone, but the Afgans were quite frightened and didn't want a force of US military about the meeting place. It would only make the Taliban inquisitive and possibly make them attack.

So Alex was to go in a more civilian looking garb and hide his features in the headdress of the Afgan male. He would carry his weapons and such, but more like the Afgans then Army. His squad would be standing by a distance from the meeting site, so if anything did happen, they would be on the scene in a matter of minutes to get Alex out.

Hearing Mary’s voice and feeling Skye kissing her Dani slowly came out of the nightmare. She looked up at Mary. “I am sorry” She started crying then. “I didn’t want Alex to worry, I can see it in his face, he blames himself for not protecting me” She shook her head and sighed. “You might think this is creepy but I recorded Alex sleeping, it might help me” She looked up at Mary. “Any regrets now bring the freak into your house” She was half asleep and didn’t really realize what she was saying she smiled at Mary. “Thank you” Then she closed her eyes again and turned into her teddy bear and flipped on the recording of Alex’s breathing and her cat and dog snuggled up to her again.

No more nightmares came that night. Only dreams. Alex and Dustin came back. And her and Debbie had their babies. Dani woke after sleeping for close to 24 hours. She got up and walked to the bathroom. She was really rested now and felt better. She walked into the kitchen and greeted Mary. She sat down and had some breakfast. She talked to Mary, feeling more relaxed now. She had some OB appointments as did Debbie. She sighed doing all these things alone was not really how she had wanted to do this but she was a Army wife so she would do it.

Before she left she sent off a letter to Alex, letting him know she was well, and sleeping, and that the Marines on the plane thought he would make a good Marine, she hoped that would give him a good laugh. She made sure to get him to ask around for anything his men needed or wanted for she was going to start sending packages soon. She signed it off by saying she loved him forever and a day and that she would see him soon. She would never sign it good bye…always see you soon.

At the OB appointment the babies checked out clean as did Dani. The stitches were ready to come out and she nodded once they were out she still had a ugly scar but smiled. “Can’t let my husband have all the scars” They all went out for lunch after that and Mary and a surprise the spa that had already treated them once heard about the news and wanted to treat her for a special day at least once a month. This time would be foot and hand massage and a manicure and pedicure, safe stuff for pregnancy when she was healed it would be more stuff. Dani was speechless but Debbie and her both needed it.

The manicure and pedicure worked magic. Dani felt so much better after. She thanked the ladies who made her promise that she would come back twice a month for treatments. Dani was a celebraty but everyone seemed to give her space. She did notice that everywhere she walked there were people that seemed to shield her from media. She was grateful for that. She told Mary to call the local news to let them know that she was good but just wanted some time to heal and get back to a more normal life.

She called Dr. Parks when she got home “Just checking in Dr. Parks, I am okay just got back from a OB appointment, seems the babies are good I am too” She would wait to see what he had to say about her mettings with him and when to return back to work. “Uhh how are my guys doing?” She asked again since he didn’t anserw that when they were at the airport.

Mary patted Dani's hands as she told her of the recording. "Well if it helps what is creepy about it." She waited until Dani had gone back to sleep before going back to her room. In the morning Mary greeted Dani and Debbie as they came downstairs for breakfast. "Now you two eat and I will take you over to your appointments before I am off to work. When you are done just call me at the office and I'll send the Judge's driver over to pick the two of you up."

Once they were ready she took them to their doctor so they could get checked out and then went off to work.

When Dr Parks got Dani's call he sat back in his plush chair in his office and smiled when she told him that the babies were good to go. "I'll be over tonight and we can talk. Don't be afraid to open up young lady. You should know how that is by now." When she asked him about her guys he had nothing to tell her. "Have nothing from over there as of yet. I have a couple aquintences over there that will let me know if anything is happening. But don't worry about them. Just keep believing they will be back soon."

It was going to take at least a month before all the tribal leaders and others would be able to gather. A place had been chosen and there would be those that would ensure that the place was not being watched or known about. Now Alex had to think of what he would say to them. Abdul would be there and there would be one that would translate for those that did not speak English.

The information went up the chain of command and the big wigs were buzzing about it all. Though the place and the date was kept between Alex, the company and battalion commander. Oh how they were wanting to put their two cents in to it, make it a political matter. But because of what Alex did in Iraq there were those that pulled in the reigns so to speak and kept those that might muck things up away and out of it. They were going to wait and see what came out of the meeting.

A few days passed and Alex got Dani's letter and read it. He chuckled about her wanting to send care packages to the soldiers in the battalion. Every letter and package that arrived meant a lot to each and every soldier that got one.

Alex and Dustin went out on patrols and made visits to various towns about the area that their battalion was headquartered. Alex began talking with the villagers mostly with the help of someone to interpet for him. He also began trying to learn the language so that when the time came he could try and speak it a little bit and understand those that would be at the meeting. Dustin again began taking an interest in the children, and showing them how to play basket ball and the like. These were more public relation type visits to the villages. All knew who Alex and Dustin were and the soldiers with them. The Immortals were quite well known now, and welcomed. The true soldiers of Allah, even though they were not muslim. For the people believed that Allah was protecting them and guiding them.

This information was passed on to Dr Parks and with his talks with Dani, he let her know what they were doing, as well as the one reporter for CNN. It seemed he was a constant fixture now with the battalion, Alex and Dustin.

When Dr Parks came over Dani was nervous she made herself a herbal tea and offered one to him. She surprised herself by opening up. She talked about the guilt and fear of killing two men. How having Alex forget her was almost more than she could handle. Dr. Parks came over nearly every night. They talked and laughed even. Dani asked about her guys but Dr. Parks wanted to make sure that she was 100% before she came back to work. Dani was tired most nights, she was having naps along with Debbie. Her animals seemed to love it for both of them had naps with her too.

She helped around the house. Christmas was coming up fast. She had been sending packages almost daily and write two or three letters daily to them sending pictures of her growing stomach and all the ultrasounds and even sent him a recording of their heart beats. She wasn’t sure if he would want it but she thought it was cool to hear their little heart beats. Debbie was doing the same for Dustin.

Dani and Debbie had gone to the base for shopping trip for more boxes She had sent huge ones for Thanksgiving. She was now getting ready for Christmas. She had presents wrapped for each of the Soldiers deployed with them and some sports equipment for the local kids. Even some little beanie babies for the girls and little ones. She had heard of a story one time of a Soldier giving a young girl a beanie baby one day and the next day while they were out on patrol the same little girl waved for them to stop and pointed to the IED in the road that was set to go off. She made sure to tell Alex this story. She packed a lot of personal care for the kids. And of course treats for the dogs, those working and the cats and dogs that hung around the base.

The talks with Dr. Parks helped but she still felt jumpy. She couldn’t handle closed in places, elevators nearly did her in. Loud noises made her jumpy too. She had to be with someone when she went out because little things set her off into panic. She was slowly getting better though.

She came downstairs one morning and smiled, the house was getting decorated they had a tree and she had placed her decorations from her father on it along with the others. She wasn’t fully into the Christmas spirit but she was trying for Debbie and Mary.

As she walked into the kitchen she found Mary. “Morning mom, what is on the plan for today?”


((sorry if its no good but I wanted to get it up for you...now Mary can decide if its nothing, her baby shower, her giving the all clear to go back to work, or another surpsie))

Alex had sent Dani a list of names that might need letters and packages. These were single soldiers that really had not received much mails. He suggested to Dani that she try and get some of the people in the city to help out by adopting soldiers and sending letters and care packages. He hoped that there would be many that would help out.

Dr Parks had his ways and Alex did not ask how but he always managed to get him updates on Dani. He let him know that she was seeing him on a regular basis, talking to her and how she was opening up to him about her fears. Since both of them was his patients so to speak and everthing, he gave them both updates on each other. Alex was doing fine and showed now adverse effects with his memory loss and gaining it back. However he had not been told about the meeting. That was something that was classified and no one outside of a very small group knew anything about it.

The days began to fly by and it was rapidly approaching the day that the meeting was to take place. The team that would be the overwatch was selected. Dustin had found out about it and wanted in. There was no saying no to him. Alex had to laugh at his insistance and made it possible for him to be apart of it.

Back home Mary looked up as Dani came down to the kitchen. When Dani asked her what the plan of the day was she smiled. "Dr. Parks has agreed to let you have limited access to the patents. He says you are doing extremely well and that your skills are needed. So for a few hours you will be allowed to work." But there was a lot more that Mary was not telling her. She had to contain her laughter so Dani would not suspect. Everything had been arranged.

Hearing that she was going to be able to work with her guys again made Dani really happy she missed them, she had passed the 3 month mark so her energy was a bit better. She still had a nap mid day and went to bed early. She slept with the lap top on and near her in case her brother or Alex ever tried to skype her or email her. Now that she was going to go to work she ate a even bigger breakfast and chocked down her prenatal vitamin and her other pills that were completely safe for the babies.

She hugged Mary. “Could you help me take the packages to the car?” She had about 20 parcels to go out. Many of the women would pack the boxes then give them to Dani since she was able to ship for free. So with the 20 from other people and her 2 one each for Dustin and Alex she would be sending 22 out. When she was ready Mary helped her carry them out.

Dani first drove to the post office on base, then had a quick weigh in to make sure she was on track for the babies then she drove to the VA. She was greeted by hugs by the nurses. She had a used a different entrance Dr. Parks suggested it saying it might be better for her for the time being, all the areas were accessible to staff by not using that entrance.

Dani was happy to be at work. It seemed her guys had missed her. A few were nevous about their wives being pregnant. Dani smiled “Hell Alex got me pregnant with twins” A few gasped but they seemed genuinely happy for her. She was forbidden from doing any heavy work, but it seemed most just wanted someone to talk to or read to them.

She was just leaving a room when she heard over the speaker “Will Dani Morgan please report to the Dani Morgan wing” Dani looked around confused. Dr Parks just happened to be walking pass at the same time. He saw the confusion “We renamed that wing in honour of you” Dani swallowed hard and smiled. “Wow…I don’t know what to say” Dr Parks grinned. “You don’t need to say anything”

Slowly they walked to the wing. Dani wasn’t sure how she would do going near there. But when she got nearer she realized it had been completely repainted and the furniture had been removed, everything was different. As they turned the last corner suddenly there was a “surprise” Dani jumped slightly then gasped. “What is this?”

Mary came up “A baby shower of course” Dani teared up “Aww thank you everyone” She was greeted by hugs and even little Ann came up she looked a bit shy. Her father spoke. “She was scared that her coming here would upset you, give you bad memories” Dani turned to Ann and signed “Can you be my big helper , I am so happy you came” Ann seemed to relax.

Debbie came up too. “Hey sis” Dani laughed and gave her a hug as they compared stomachs. Dani even though she was small and was 4 months along was showing but wasn’t too big yet. Debbie was about the same as her but she hadn’t been able to get a clear picture in the ultersound so she wasn’t sure how many she was carring.

Mary came up and pointed to the food. “Come on everyone eat up mamas to be first” Dani and Debbie blushed but got up to get the food they filled their plates then sat down. Mary had them both sit down in decorated seats Debbie looked shocked. “Why?” Mary smiled. “Everyone knows Dustin and wanted to help you too, especially with your parents gone for a year”

They played a few games which had everyone including some of the Soldiers laughing, like everything in Dani’s life the baby shower was not typical it was co ed.

Then the gifts started, Dani and Debbie were both amazed on what they got. Clothes, car seats, bassinettes, diaper bags, everything you could imagine she got. She wept through some of it overwhelmed with all the stuff she was getting. Blankets, someone already explaned that two have already been mailed to Alex and Dustin each for them to get their scent on so that it could go into the babies bassinets so they could get used to the smell.

Dani found herself wondering what Alex would look like snuggle a baby blanket. For some reason the thought made her giggle she then had to explain to everyone what was so funny. That caused many to laugh. It helped her forget where she was and what happened the last time she was here.

She ate more. Little Anne seemed thrilled to keep getting her food and drinks. She had a feeling Anne was like her bit nervous being in this area. She sat and talked to people as more gifts seemed to keep coming. Everything she could possibly need. Then she was surprised by a set of keys by Dr. Parks. “The local dealership donated it to you, can’t have you lugging two car seats in and out of your small car now can we” Since Debbie already had a good vehicle for even twins she got free gas for a year and any detailing she wanted.

All in all is was an amazing party. Dani knew there was never a chance she could repay these people. As if reading her mind Anne’s father bent down. “You saved each and every one in here in some way or other no repayment is needed.”

Dani smiled she guessed he was right.

Dr. Parks had intentionally made a stroll down the hallway that Dani would be working off of. He knew about the surprise Baby Shower and also knew that Dani hand no idea that a wing of the VA had been named after her. There were people in the town that had sons and daughters in the military now. Some of them were deployed in Afganistan. It had been their idea to name the wing after Dani. So when the anouncement was made, he made like he had just been in the area. He had a hard time from grinning or smiling.

When she looked at him with that surprized look, he did grin a bit. "Well you should see what they are naming after Alex." now he did chuckle a bit on that. "The new elementry school is being named after him. Don't tell him though. He should be back by the time it is finished and we will spring it on him at the opening ceremony."

Then it was on to the surprise Baby Shower. Again they had been able to surpise Dani. There seemed to be no one more loved in the town then her, besides Alex. Many of the women there were from the town that was either mothers or wives of soldiers. Mary was even there and chuckled at the look on Dani's face when she saw everyone.

The Baby Shower went off as planned and everyone had a good time. The soldiers that were being treated were there with their families. They were all happy that Dani had come back to work. Some that she had helped were about to leave the care of the VA Center because they had overcome their problems, had gone through the rehabilitation treatments and now were able to function with their artifical limbs. Some were going home for good, having been discharged from the military. Others would be going back to their units. A lot of them Dani had helped. When the Baby Shower was over, those leaving to return home or to their units hugged Dani and said their goodbyes. Most lived in other towns or cities close to the Base, but none yet were from the same town that Dani and Alex were from.

In Afganistan the final plans had been gone over and in a couple days Alex would be heading to the meeting dressed as an Afgan. Not far behind him would be the small task force that would launch an attack if things went wrong. Abdul would be going with Alex and would be interpeting for him. "You know if this meeting is successful, that this conflict here could soon be over." Abdul told Alex.

"Then maybe all of us can go home, like we did in Iraq. I think my fellow soldiers would love it." Alex replied.

The fact that they were going to name a school after Alex made her smile. She knew that Alex would love that. Well maybe not he like her didn’t seem to thrive on all the attention they did what they did because it was the right thing to do. She wondered if renaming streets was going to be next maybe after both of their fathers. The others she wouldn’t ask though, felt awkward asking knowing this town all the streets would renamed shortly.



After the party calmed down she was helped taking all the gifts To the cars, she filled up the new van the car seats were not installed yet just in case they needed to be returned right now one was blue and one was pink but just in case she was having two girls or two boys she would have to return it.



She turned to go back to the VA but Dr Parks was there he shook his head. “You have you put in your hours, you can come back tomorrow but you need to go home and rest” Dani was going to protest but there were four of her guys standing t here “Two words” one said and brought up two fingers “Duct” He lowered one finger “tape” he lowered the other. Dani couldn’t help but laugh and sighed “Alright” She hugged them and even Dr. Parks who spoke again



“Some are going to follow you home and help unload, you are to go straight to bed” Dani drove home as she was followed.



Once home she smiled at the guys unloading her van and went inside the house directing them to the nursery “Thank you” She said then ordered her to bed.



She laughed and then poured herself some herbal tea and went to bed. She slipped out of her clothes and into Alex’s hoddie and once her dog and cat were situated she sent a quick email off to Alex telling him about the baby shower and if he had gotten the blanket to get his smell on it. She didn’t say but she knew he would miss the birth, especially since twins were normally born premature, She sighed off with See you soon like always. missed his voice. She started the tape and closed her eyes she fell asleep.

Alex and Abdul got ready for the meeting. Abdul brought Alex the clothing and he also had an AK47 for him with ammo, clips and such to finish out the disguise. Abdul stood back looking at Alex nodding his head. "You look the part my friend." he smiled. "As long as you don't talk you will pass for an Afganistan. "

In the large tent was Dustin and the others that were to be his backup. Ten men armed to the teeth. "I would feel a lot better if I were going in there with you." Dustin told Alex.

Alex smiled and laid a hand on his shoulder. "It will be alright." Alex said.

"Come it is time." Abdul said. "We will get there just after dark."

Alex followed Abdul out of the tent to a waiting pickup truck that was selected for the trip. Behind it was another civilian truck that the back up team would use to travel in. It had a canvas cover over it that could be closed up in the back to conceal the troops. The driver and shotgun would be wearing civilian ataire so as not to arouse suspision. Once in position they would shed the shirts and headgear for their military ones.

Alex turned to Dustin looking at the rank on his shirt. "Dani will be proud of you. A specialist now. You are getting up there in rank." he grinned. Then he hoped into the front of the pick up and took off with Abdul. A few minutes later the other truck left with the soldiers.

It was just after dark when they pulled into the village where the meeting was to take place. They p.arked the truck and walked to the house and gave the signal by knocking three times waiting then two more times. The door opened and they entered the house. There were several elderly men there and a few young ones. They rose as Alex entered and stood there looking at them. Greetings were made and Alex in turn did the same to them. One of the older men motioned for Abdul and Alex to sit. Once seated the meeting began.

The old man spoke and Abdul translated. "You are called by some the right hand of Allah. That Allah protects you and yours. Time and again we have heard of your Immortals in battle and some have seen it with their own eyes. How they come under heavy fire and yet none are killed or serious injured. Bullets seem to be deflected from them. Rockets fly off course and explode away from them. You yourself have stood before your enemies in battle and have arose again and again after being wounded to lead your men, have lead them into battle and even though there are many trying to kill you none have been able to."

He leaned forward, "Abdul has told us of what you said in Iraq at your battle there. That Allah had deserted your enemies, that he condemed them for following false teachings and leaders that corrupted the word of Allah and Mohamad. All that has been see and heard of seems to prove your words. Let us hear what you say now."

Alex had been trying to think of what he was going to say to them. On all the other occasions that he had done something, it had been spontanious, it had just come to him. Nothing before the meeting had come to him. He closed his eyes not knowing what to think, then opened them and he began to speak.

All of us, be we Christian, jewish, or muslum have all come from the same beginnings. We are brothers and sisters under one God, no matter what we call him. He has called all of us to him in different ways. Ways that suit the lifestyle that we live. Long ago he brought a people to him, having them shun the false religions of the world that believed in a number of gods. The Jewish people were born and from them sprang the christian faith. Here people were vastly different in many ways then those of the Jewish faith. A multitude of cultures. Then came the Islamic faith. Mohamad spread his word to the arabic people, a people that had a different way of life then the Jewish people.

Each faith believing in one god, and fundamentally the same beliefs. God, no matter what name we call him is the same that we all pray to. To each in their own way. He has created us all. We are brothers and sisters all. So I say to you, would you kill your blood brother for believing in something different then you, wanting something different then you, for praying to god in a different way then you?" he looked about the room. The words seemed to flow from him with out him even thinking.

"We, the coalition forces, are here because of what the Taliban did. They killed hundreds of innocent people because they wanted to strike terror into the hearts of the people of the world. So that they could gain power over others and make them do what they wanted. To make them think what they wanted. All of you here believe in the Koran and the Islamic way. I ask you is, the beliefs of those we fight the same as yours. Do you believe Allah would want what is happening to be happening?

"Perhaps he is sending a message to all that what is happening is not right. I believe he is. Stop, look at those that are telling people to kill themselves so they can kill others, to order so many to their deaths because they want power. If you ask them to do it themselves, what will they say. If they truely believed in what they were saying they would do it. But they will say, If I die who will take my place, who will lead you." he leaned forward.

"Who here would not lead their people into battle at the forefront of their men? They order people to die while they sit somewhere, hiding behind armed men, in the safety of a shelter. Is this the type of leaders that you want leading you?

Yes my country has ways that are vastly different then yours. Yes it is wrong of us to try and force our ways on your people. But this is the modern world now, and as I have said, we are all brothers and sisters. Do you not want the best for your children and grand children. Have them to be better then you to have things that would make them that way. We were like you and many others, but we saw that to become a better country we had to change to adapt to a different, changing world. We had age old customs that we had to look at and change so that we would not be taken advantage of as our country grew. It is hard to change, but if done gradually you might see the benifits of it. If not one may always go back to the old ways. As I told Abdul here, give it a try and see what happens. Give the government a chance. Select those you want to represent you and have them run for the leadership positions in the government."

He continued to talk about various things. When he was done he leaned back looking at the men in the room. He could see that they were taking everything in and thinking about what he had said.

He had talked about them changing to the modern world, touching on many subjects. It all seemed to just flow from him as it had that night when he had stood before Abdul and talked. Abdul listened and translated, his eyes a bit wide as he looked upon Alex. All the Tribal Leaders had similar looks on their faces as they watched him.

They began to talk among them selves and then the one that had spoken to him before spoke again. "There is much for us to discuss. You are very wise for one so young." he smiled. "Now you must go." Abdul rose and so did Alex. They left the house and began moving back towards the truck when all hell broke lose. Men came running out of the dark shouting and
brandishing weapons. They had come to quickly and Alex nor Abdul had time to bring up their weapons to even try to defend themselves. They were captured and thrown against the side of the pickup and disarmed. They were then bound and gagged and half gragged half pushed along to another truck a short distance from where Abdul had parked their truck.

They were lifted and thrown into the back of the truck and driven off. Everything had happened so quickly that the back up team didn't even know it had happened untill a bit later when one of the tribal leaders came and told them what had happened. Dustin was pissed and was read y to tear anyone apart. The tribal leader told them that one of their guards had spotted the ttalaban insurgents and had more then likely followed them. They needed to wait till he returned to let them know where Alex had been taken.

The tribal leader looked at Dustin and gave a slight bow to him. "Your brother is protected by Allah. We now know he speaks for Allah and we will assist in any way possible to bring him back." He put a hand on Dustin's shoulder.

The Taliban made their way to another village and dragged Alex and Abdul inside a building. They put Alex in a straight back chair his hands tied behind him. Before him he saw a TV camera, and what looked to be a live feed device tied into it. He had seen the portable type that the CNN Reporter seemed to always have with him and knew what it was. As he sat there he continued twisting his hands and wrists with as little possible motion as possible. He had pulled his wrists when they were tying them, trying to get as much space between them. He had room to work the rope that tied him and he was sure he could free his hands. Abdul was taken to a different room.

After about a half hour a man came into the room. He had that arrogant look about him, as if he was better then anyone in the room. The leader of the group that had kidnapped him. He strutted before Alex as if he had single handedly been the one that had captured him. Alex looked at him with distain.

It had been a few hours since the kidnapping and Dustin had radioed back about what happened. As news always does, it seems to get to the reporters. With Alex and his battalion, they were big news and of course the CNN reporter got word of it, as did Dr. Parks contact with the battalion. He got the call at his office. It was day time there but night time in Afganistan. He knew Dani was working and he would be the one to break the news to her. He found her and asked her to come with him into the hall way. There was no easy way to tell her so he just told her. "Alex has been kidnapped by the Taliban."

As the leader of the Taliban group strutted around the room he began speaking. "The famous American. The so called spokesman of Allah." he laughed. "Allah didn't warn you?" he laughed again. "We will show the world what a fraud you are infadel. Tonight they will all see you die."

Alex kept working his bonds and had managed to loosen them some more. "I never said I was the spokesman of Allah. That was your people." Alex grinned and chuckled.

The man stopped and looked at Alex. "What do you laugh about dog. You are about to die."

"Laughing at you. Such a great leader, that hides here surrounded by armed men, who doesn't go with his men to capture one one American Soldier. Pathetic, coward."

That got the man angry and he back handed Alex across the face. Alex spat blood out onto the floor and laughed again. "Typical. All brave before your men with a prisoner with his hands tied behind him. Very manly of you and so brave. How about you and me going at it man to man or are you that big a coward." Again the man hit Alex telling him to shut up.

The man that had followed the insurgents returned to the village and told the tribal leaders where they had taken Alex. They in turn told Dustin and the other soldiers. They were immediately on the road the pedal to the metal.

"I am not going to kill you when I am freed. I am going to make you hurt and turn you over to our interagators. Bet you will be spilling your guts the minute they begin." Alex taunted him.

The man was about to hit him once more but one of the others said something as he stood behind the camera and the man straightened up and composed himself. "Freed? You are going to die tonight. There is no rescue party coming for you."

Then a light came on on the camera and the man began to speak. He introduced himself and said he was the leader of the Taliban of the area they were in. "I have your American hero here. The Great and Mighty, Sergeant Morgan. To night I will prove that he is not protected by Allah and that Allah is with me." he drew his gun from its holdster and drew back the upper receiver and put it up to his head.

Back home the live feed was being transmitted and the news stations were putting it on the air. At the VA Center one of the soldiers cried out, "OH MY GOD." as the news flash intrupted the normal show that was on. The insurgents voice could b e heard loud and clear.

"Never said I expected to be rescued." Alex grinned, as he finally freed his hands. His left hand came up and grabbed the gun and twisted it in the mans hand, His right hand, balled up, slammed between the legs hard, making his eyes go wide, and him to bend over Alex immediately stood up and grabbed the man by the throat and spun him infront of him as he took the gun from him and shot one man in a corner and held the man as a shield.

The team had reached the village and had dismounted and began moving in on the building where Alex was being held. They heard a gun shot and suddenly there were several armed men running into the building and alot of yelling. Dustin rushed forward and the others followed. They came under fire and all but Dustin took up positions to return fire. Dustin charged on into the building and followed the sound of the yelling voices.

He saw three men infront of a door and he charged them, hitting them and pushing them into the room beyond. The first man in went sprawling on the floor, the second man stumbled into another man and the third was able to keep his balance and turn on Dustin. Dustin brought the butt of his rifle up and slammed the man in the face with it, then kneed the man in the balls. The man doubled over and Dustin grabbed him and threw him against the wall.

Alex saw Dustin come bursting in. So did the other Taliban members in the room. Alex shoved the leader into another man, shot another and then was in hand to hand combat with yet another. all in front of the camera. It was like some reality show. All the TV's at the VA center had it on. Dustin and Alex were in hand to hand combat with the remaining Taliban members. Knives were drawn and the Taliban was out to kill the two.

Outside the sound of gunfire could still be heard, and it was getting closer and closer. Finally it was just one on one. A number of Taliban lay on the floor wounded, dieing or dead.

At the VA center the soldiers and staff were all watching in silence, enthralled by what was happening.
