Never Surrender (Open, could be mature)

“I don’t think anyone did, such things are just unpredictable and to a certain extent confusing at times. “They are stubborn though, and old as well they will take their time getting used to such a change I can tell you that for sure” she said looking up to him. She soon just turned around in his arms and leaned back on him.

Shafon found a few of her old friends and introduced him to them, they saw how happy she was and simply smiled “Let’s just hope you picked a better king than last time” said one of them “Although I sort of understand why, he looks kind of cute” said one of the more flirtiest typed ladies there. Shafon laughed. He and the word cute just didn’t go together at all.

Seclusion looked up once more to what he said she really did not know any longer. “I do not know what I will do, only time will tell but I probably will come back to my old home. It’s the place I remember after all and it’ll have a lot of things to rebuild which they’ll need help with.” She said truly torn between choosing where she would like to go around that time by now. She rustled her hair I’m too tired to be thinking about such puzzles” she said to him although she still thought over the problem in her head. "Maybe I'll spend some time back here first and see how things go" she said

Nicks heart sank at her words. He had hoped that she would want to stay with him. But he could understand. She had family there and of course her people, that would still be looking to her for guidance and leadership. He smiled and nodded. "It will be a difficut thing for both sides I think. The demons will not like it much though they will not be able to do anything about it.

There would be grumbling and the Demon Lords would be questioning everything, but with care as he doubted they wanted to lose their lands and lives. But he had a feeling a couple Utopians would be staying in his domain. Draco, Seclusion's brother he knew was enjoying his position of power and then there was Argon. He was enjoying training Nicks Demon soldiers. He had a purpose, and him and his small group of warriors were fitting in with his soldiers. His soldiers seemed to be accepting them and had a grudingly new respect for them. Bakus especially seemed to have formed a bond with Argon. Two different races, two differnt ideaologies but one purpose.

Of course they would want to visit their city and see old friends and family members, but he figured they would be back on the job quickly. It would not be the same around the castle with out Seclusion, but he figured he would just have to get use to it. Besides he would have his hands full with helping his father with the intergration of the utopians into the new Kingdom.

"Time to find the King and Queen. It is going to take a bit of time yet before all of this can be accomplished. First thing is for The King and I to return to his castle with the information and present it to the Treaty Council and for me to make my claim."

She looked to him and smiled a little weakly “Don’t look like that” she said softly and leaned up pecking him under his chin “I’m just going to make sure everything is ok here for a couple a months and you better try not to miss out on your sleep either” she said before nodding once more and went to go find the King and Queen not having very much trouble at all since she had a guess at where they both were “You majesty’s it’s time we return to the surface” she said to them. Shafon simply smiled and they headed up both her and Seclusion waiting on the small cliff edge for the King and Nick before heading up.
When they were eventually back up to the surface she was glad it was a new moon that night and rustled her wings before she was up hovering in the air ready to head back for the time being. Until her people were allowed back up to the surface and could rebuild their city.

The day did eventually come and she left, on the nearest new moon after they were allowed back up to go help them to rebuild their broken city. She said her goodbyes for the time being and headed to the ruins with Deadly for several months although she did plan to come back after all the main work was done. She was pretty sure one of the old generals could take over. In the end that happened although it had been around half a year to rebuild the homes and couldn’t even think of starting the old palace still, there was still much to be done yet and the Queen visited in order to help out there as well
Sighing she perched herself high up with Deadly thinking to herself. “Maybe we should go visit?”
“Miss him?”
Nothing. She did miss him but she knew her companion already knew that. She decided to head back that night it would be fairly dark and after the others were all safely back in their homes she would leave.
She left after saying a few brief goodbyes and headed back landing on the balcony she whistled “Feels like forever”
“I’m more surprised you remember the way here”
“It is kind of hard to forget though” she said to Deadly who jumped off her back and then back onto the floor of the balcony and barked.

The next few months were busy ones. The King returned to his castle and Nick escorted his mother to Draco's city. To any looking on she was just another Utopian that Nick had found and put under his protection. Draco, Argon and the other Utopians were................shocked would be the least to explain their reaction. More tears flowed as they fell to their knees before her and kissed her hand. Argon turned to Nick going to one knee and bowing low. "You have brought to us the most precious gift ever. My sword, my life, and my soul is yours."

Nick smiled and helped the Utopian to his feet. "Oh the surprises are not yet done yet. But those are for yet another day, when things have worked out as I have planned." He had already cautioned his mother from talking about the Utopians under their city. Not until all had gone as planned could any word of them be mentioned. Even the King was silent on the matter.

Once his mother was secured with the other Utopians, he returned home and arranged for the transport of his prisoner to his father's city, where the Treaty Council resided. All those that had been mentioned in the interogation was brought to the city. They had no idea of why they had been summoned. But before the Council and those accused of treason and conspiring to begin the war again, Nick presented his case, and the Angelic Lord. Over the space of several weeks, interogations of the minor players of the conspiracy had them turning on the others and testifying against them. The Angelic nobles and underlings involved were also brought in and and charged as well.

In the End, those that had conspired to do the unspeakable, were either executed, sent to the mines, or inprisoned. Nick had protrayed the Angelic's as being the instigators of the conspiracy and was able to demand the Utopian lands for himself. The Treaty Council surcumed to his demands as the only other recourse was for the Angelics losing a good chunk of their own lands. This was the price for keeping the peace.

Once the Utopian lands were under his control he brought his mother to his father's castle. There the king presented her to the court and the notice that Shafon would be his wife. Oh the rumblings that set off. Nick only grinned and looked to his supporters, who now drew even closer to him because of his new status. He had the largest domain of all the Demon Lords, and had increased the Kingdom by a good chunk of land. Even some of the other powerful Lords met with him to pledge their support of him.

Once the boarder along the Angelic and Utopian Lands had been secured by Nick's Demon soldiers, Sefress announced the end of all hostilities towards the Utopians and proclaimed them to be apart of the Demon Kingdom, citizens of the Kingdom. That is when Nick took Draco, Argon, and the other Utopians to their city and rang the bell in the temple. The populace of the city came pouring out of the tunnels into the light of day once more. Again Nick looked on as the small band of Utopians he had put under his protection were shocked, amazed, and overwhelmed with emotion.

Old friends and family members greeted them. Nick's father and mother, now married and the King and Queen of both Utopians and Demons, stood high above them all looking down holding on to each other. It was a glorious day and one that was to be honored every year after that.

Then came the rebuilding of the Utopian city. Those buildings destroyed were being rebuilt by both demon and Utopians. It would no longer just be a Utopian city, as the Demon Cities would not just be Demon Cities. Utopians and Demons would live together and the General that was Nick's friend joined the Treaty council to represent his people. Nick continued his duties as a Lord and kept himself busy, while Seclusion was gone. The two months she had said she would be gone streached on to more months.

It was a very lonely time for him, but he kept himself busy, probably more then he should have. Also he spent a lot of time at his father's castle with his mother and father. It had not yet been proclaimed that he was their son. That would come down the road.

He was in a converted practice room with Argon, learning the fighting style and techniques of the Utopians warrior elite when he heard Deadly's bark. Crimson's ears pricked up as he heard it and gave a bark back, that would help lead the other hell hound to them.

Deadly and Seclusion both turned their heads towards the bark, “New lesson, tailing see if we can find them” said Deadly. They both began heading towards the general direction of the bark and Deadly gave another one. The second bark was enough and they found the practice room walking in without a sound.
Leaning back against a wall she watched the training. Having had a few more refresher courses during the six months despite keeping herself busy with her own training; with everything dictated by Deadly. She had been there for the events such as the marriage and noticed there that the two cultures were mixing.
After the training ended Deadly gave another bark and then decided to tackle Crimson. “Been some time huh?” she said pushing herself off the wall and walking over to them “How have you been?” she asked him.

She hadn’t changed in the slightest apart from looking a little tired after flying around so much before coming back here. Much more peaceful to her, and she had no more jobs in the city. “I see you’ve been learning off Argon as well, and how has that been going?” she asked. She had heard that everything had gone well from her brother who sent her messages every now and then although the conspirators that were still alive remained in the mines or in the jails were still a danger that was not something they would worry about unless some of them escaped.

During her time in the city she had sorted out guard shifts as well, just to be sure the city remained safe and kept their underground tunnels as a secret in order to use them again if the time came but this time they would gladly welcome the demons if they needed shelter for the large chambers were more than big enough to hold the city which had decreased in size of population anyway.

She waited in silence for his answer “Well going to answer me Nick?” she asked leaning forward a little with her arms crossed over her chest and looking up to him waiting still, she'd be lying if she said she didn't miss Nick or the castle that had grown to be her home, Tamar now stayed with her brother and his wife which her thought had been long lost to the war, so Seclusion really had no reason to stay there; but plenty to come back to the old castle.

The military of the Utopians had been integrated with Nick's own forces. Demon soldiers were placed under General Narn's control for the protection of the Utopian City and the boarder region., along with some of the Utopian warriors. Others, like Bakus and those trained by Argon were placed under Demon General leadership and had contingents of Utopian warriors. As always with such merging there was problems, but that was something that the Leaders of both races had to deal with. And deal with they did. It was soon learned it would not be tolerated. These served as airial scouts and air cover for the ground troops and soon the demon troops came to realize they were valuable assets and began working with them.

Nick looked up and over to t e door as Seclusion arrived. He was covered in sweat, his shirt soaked in it. He grabbed a towel and wiped the sweat from his face and neck. Argon looked over at her and grinned. "He is quite the adept student." he said before giving Seclusion a slight bow and leaving the room.

"Well now, indeed it has been a long time." He tried to dry the sweat from his arms and chest but he was still breathing a bit hard from the work out and a sheen of sweat covered his muscular chest and arms. "He is a good teacher. I have learned quite a bit from him. I think he is enjoying training my soldiers and me." He moved towards her as Deadly jumped Crimson and the two began rolling around all over the floor.

"What of you, have you gotten everything that you have wanted done?"

A few of the Utopians were just as much trouble but soon accepted it after being spoken to, the alliance between the angels and humans made the persuasion much easier as well with the joint forces neither the utopians nor demons would be able to stand alone and survive the chaos. They realised that better ground troops were an advantage to them as well and began to work together with the demons and some even found the similarities between the two races.

She looked to him “You need a bath” she said bluntly and nodded to Argon smiling a little before she turned back to him “My brother trained after him so I’m sure he is a good teacher and he is one of the five death bringers, the unofficial leader actually and I’m sure he is, he liked to teach others a lot before the war… apparently” she said not quite remembering much from back then. “I’ve had a few more refresher courses myself from my tutor” she recalled a few of the lessons and laughed “some were interesting you could say”

“I have done everything I needed to one of the generals took over after a while since they have a family there, mine I still in the same area round here so it’s less of a flight you could say” she said rustling her wings on her back. “How have you been apart from training, keeping yourself busy?” she asked knowing the answer already from reading through him. “It was kind of lonely there though, guess I missed this place” she said a little quietly, she was terrible when it came to admitting she missed someone.
Deadly barked still rolling around on the floor with Crimson after she had tackled the other wolf.

He moved closer to her and wraped the towel about the back of his neck. He grinned, knowing he was sweaty and needed a bath. He slipped his arms around her and drew her to him. "Miss me?" he asked and kissed her deeply. She said she had missed the Castle, but he wanted to know if she missed him. When he broke the kiss he looked down into her eyes.

"As for if I have been kept busy......, well one could say that. Haven't been able to sleep much though. Just couldn't get comfortable." That was true. He had not been able to sleep that good with out her in the bed with him. He had gotten use to the warmth of her body and the delicious feel of it against him and on his hands.

Crimson rolled around with Deadly, growing, barking and nipping at Deadly's legs. It was all playful and fun.

She looked to him as he asked his question “hmm, maybe” she said kissing back deeply and looking straight back at him when he looked into her eyes. She smiled a little at him listening to what he said having had some problems with sleep herself over that time period. “Miss me?” she asked him as she moved her arms around him as well, really having missed him. “If so it’s a good thing I’ll be staying here for a while then” she said smiling softly rather glad about it herself. “Now then you should go have your bath,” she said laughing a little and smiled once more and yawned a little tired from travelling and flexed her wings out before folding them a little limply on her back.

Deadly yipped and nipped his stomach growling playfully.

He nodded at her comment about the bath. "Yes I think I do need one." he grinned and untangeled them so he could make his way to his bath chamber. Hot water was drawn for him and towels, soaps and oils were laided out. He stripped out of his clothes and slowly entered the hot water sighing at the soothing effect it had on his sore muscles. "You know our spies in the Angelic lands have reported that they are extremely worried about the amount of Utopians that suddenly appeared." he chuckled. "I guess they don't like to have some one on equal footing, or should I say winging."

Though the Demons had ended the war with the Utopians, the Angelic's had not. But they could do nothing about it now, since they were now in Demon lands and any attack on them would be an act of war against the Demons. The humans were a bit indifferent in the matter, even though allied with the Angelic Race.

"How goes the rebuilding of the city. I know a number of buildings were damaged and a few destroyed during the war. I bet the people are enjoying the freedom of flying above ground once more." He began washing himself and using a bone scraper to scrape the grime from his skin.

She listened as he talked while she changed into one of her old dresses that she had left there. She tucked a bit of loose hair out thinking to herself that she needed to cut her hair again soon. “Probably because we’re the only other race that has a large amount of winged beings, so they naturally think of us a threat” she said. “Until we appeared they were unrivalled in flight I guess you could say”. “The city is faring well, most buildings are repaired since all the materials were within the old lands, also the only building left is the castle or palace, no one lives there anymore but it’s a bit sad to let it turn to rubble.” She said. “They are enjoying the freedom very much, some of the younger ones are learning to fly properly now, which is a change” she laughed remembering how she refused to learn when she was younger.

“How are the king and queen?” she asked leaning back in a chair beside the bath chamber grooming her wings and looking through the feather noticing something and rustled them the bit of skin on her muscle and bone of her wing was dry again. Walking in she searched around for an oil she ahd used before waiting for his answer as well.

Nick laughed when she asked about the King and Queen. "I have never seen the King so happy and so relaxed. I swear at times he like a young man again. Shafon has done wonders for him. He is actually enjoying life and doing other things then just ruling the kingdom. As for Shafon, She is happy and seems to have already wooed a number of the Demon Lords with her charm."

He continued cleaning the grime, sweat and stuff from his body. "She has been his advisor on many things. Do y ou know that Draco has been brought to court to be appointed a Lord. He will be representing the Utopians at court. It had just been recently done, Nick had placed the suggestion in his father's ear and his mother had loved the idea. He already had the backing of Bakus and a few other Demons.

She rustled her wings, “Same for the queen when she did visit the city once, much better than in the past. She does a lot more as well, or rather more than I can remember” She said moving outside to rub the oil under her feathers finding the skin and rubbing it in gentle and carefully around the feathers. “She was always very charming, all the royals have been so it’s a trait of theirs” she laughed smiling a little to herself. She leaned back listening “I heard a little bit but not that he’d been given the position of Lord, he must be very happy about that as would his family, he’ll most likely tell me all about whenever I next see him”

Finishing with the oil she put it on the side to take it in once he’d finished and groomed her wings picking out the twigs and bits of dirt. She yawned getting tired and looked outside to the sky, ti was dark. “I’m heading to bed, flying too much” she said standing up and sitting on the bed pulling the ribbon from her hair and looked a little annoyed at the strands of hair that fell over her face once more and brushed them back before she settled herself day.

"Oh so you think his is ready to be a Lord?" he grinned. "But I think he will do fine as one." he chuckled. "Your brother a Lord, and soon he will have a domain of his very own." He nodded when she said she was heading off to bed. He would be there himself shortly, after he finished his bath.

At the prison where one of the highest level Demons had been inprisoned for his part in the conspiracy, a message was smuggled into him that made him grin. One that had not been caught in the sweep by Nickodemous, that had been smart enought not to let his part be known, had arranged for the Lord's escape and he had other plans as well. One of which was to eliminate the King and place his friend on the throne. He had already created a defence against Seclusion's ability to read his soul. Through sources he had learned of her ability and had finally discovered a way to prevent her knowing what was deep with in his mind and soul.

“He’ll do fine, I know that at least” she said drifting off to sleep and her wings moved up over her as she slept silently with Deadly curling up on the rug when she walked in. Her ability had very few ways to be blocked even more so since she was trained to use it very well. She wasn’t finished her training that would take a few more hundred years. No one had recognised one thing about her, the seal. No one ever asked just thinking it was some sort of natural thing for some of them, it was best no one asked. However, she knew it was breaking and had to see Kana about how to reseal it in which would cause a lot of trouble, especially if anyone knew about it. No one was aware of what was going on within the cospirators mind. Seemed what he had learnt was working that was for sure.

The next morning she woke up fairly early and sat herself up she looked outside "Not a dream then" she said letting her gaze fall to where Nick lay and then Noticed Deadly asleep on the floor next to Crimson.

He stayed a bit more and then got out of the tub and dried himself off. By the time he got to the bed she was fast asleep, as was Deadly. Crimson lay next to the other hell hound and he grinned down at him. "What?" Crimson asked. Nick only chuckled and shook his head. "Nothing old friend." It was good to have her back. Even Crimson missed Deadly. The two had gotten to use to each other and alot of times had been going around places together.

He pulled the covers down some and slipped between them, turning to face her as he pulled the covers backup over both of them. He could feel her warmth and it made him feel good. Closing his eyes he was asleep in minutes. He awoke feeling refreshed and well rested. He slowly opened his eyes and saw Seclusion looking at him. "Good morning." he said and moved over to put an arm over her and draw her to him. "Now this feels alot better."

She looked to him still when he moved over and put an arm over her and drew her to him “guess you did miss me, never answered that question you know” she said smiling a little as she looked down to him “going to get up, I am since I’d rather get some fresh air at the moment” she said stretching her arms up above her head and rolling her shoulders back.
Deadly woke up and simply moved herself from Crimson and went to get a drink, having become more tolerable of the other hell hound by now.

Getting up out of bed she stretched her wings out flapping them once before folding them, she felt a little lost having nothing to do for the first time in six months and just thought a little to herself, trying to come up with something. “What is it?” asked Deadly walking back in licking her lips a little “I can’t think of anything to do… Ah wait, Kana, I have to visist her today" she siad suddenly remebering the promise she had made and the buisness she had there.

He sighed as she got out of bed. He just wanted to lie there for a while with her in his arms. But it seemed she had somethin else to do. He reluctently got up and streached. He had some stiff muscles from the work outs and the business of running his very large domain. But it was going to get a bit smaller when he gave over land to Draco. He already was in control of a city and so the land around it and for a fair piece was going to be his to control, to include a few villages. He was not aware of it yet, only his father and Nick knew.

"So what is it that you have to do?" he asked Seclusion, as he began getting dressed. "Something to do with Kana? You know she is at your Brother's city don't you." That would mean her flying some more. "Thought you were tired of flying."

“I might be tired of flying, but it’s important, you don’t have to come” she said “Draco won’t mind anyway, I’m still his little sister after all” she said rustling her hair. She was soon ready to move sitting on the balcony. When she did get to where Kana was she called out. The old Utopian looked to her laughing “So you didn’t forget”
“I’d get my head bitten off if I did” Sitting down on the side of the bed she let Kana examine her before she repaired her seal. “Hmm, seems to be quite badly broken.” She said.
“Can you fix it up?” she asked and Kana nodded slowly fixing the seal up while she thought of what else she had to do but again came up with nothing, deciding she should head back once everything was sorted remembering how much Nick worried.
She did eventually head back when she had been sorted and looked to him “Hmm, what are you doing” she asked looking over his shoulder and then to him briefly.

In the hours that Seclusion was gone, Nick went about his normal daily routine. He held court listening to the complaints of those under his rule. He delt out justice and insured that the wronged were delt with fairly, whether it was reimbursing them money that they had lost or property that had been taken from them. Over the years those that did wrong knew they would be punished and the people knew they could get justice. His domain was profitable and the people were happy.

When Seclusion returned he was working in his study, going over the new maps, and the new domain that was being created. He turned at her voice and grinned. "You know you could have just had her come here with Draco tonight." he told her. "The king and queen will be here for the formal dubing of Draco as a Lord and........................." he nodded to the map, "His own domain." he grinned broadly knowing she had no idea that her brother would have now all the rights and privilages of a Demon Lord. One of many he hoped that would come for some of the Utopians. The first steps in fully intergrating them in to family so to speak.

“It was important, something that I had little time to sort out… I shouldn’t have put such a thing off for so long, my brother said I’ll get in trouble because of it again” she said “Hmm, I heard a little about it when I went to see Kana, she rumbles on a little at times” nodding to herself she looked over the maps knowing where everywhere on the map was since she used to read them quite a lot when she was learning to fly. It was the basics they were taught from a young age.

“Hmm, anything else you need to do before the king and queen come?” she asked having an idea and a smirk danced once more on her lips. Deadly chuckled a little almost as if she had read her mind “I would like to see how much you’ve learnt from Argon and it’ll give you some practice against a different style as well and weapon for that matter.”

"Everything is ready for their visit. Meals have been planned, rooms readied, and the other guests are already arriving." He told her. Those Lords that he had the support of were invited to the ceremony and dinner. Draco would be one of them soon and it was time they got well aquainted. The High General as his friend was now called, would be coming in from the Utopian city, then there would be Draco's immediate family and those that had decided to stay with him and Argon and his group.

He chuckled as she said she wanted to basicly spar with him. "Want to see if you are better then me or if I can beat you eh. As for a different type weapon, like Deadly, well she is one of a kind, excluding your teachers of course." He didn't think he would be doing battle with the Reaper or what ever he wanted to be called.

“Actually, scythes are commonly used by other creatures as well, not as common as sword of course since they are not as straight forward, also she is a demon souled weapon as well don’t forget.” She said bluntly “and I hope you don’t start fighting with the Reaper, he could kill anyone in a heartbeat” pausing briefly she looked to him, hearing him chuckle she frowned and began teasing a little “What scared I will beat you?” a slight playful tone mixing with her voice.

Draco meanwhile was getting ready with Tamar and his wife named Clare. “Tamar stay still” she said getting Tamar looking a little more presentable considering she was all scruffy. They did arrive a little earlier than Seclusion guessed. “Tamar, Draco and Clare are here” she said “Oh well, maybe another time” she smirked and Deadly shook her head “You’re terrible at times” she laughed
“Well, no one seems to mind” she said and straightened her scruffy hair out a little so it looked... neater than usual. She rustled her wings on ehr back getting used to wearing a dress still having changed into the dark blue dress earlier.

Draco, his wife and the others had arrived and were shown to their rooms in the castle. The demon lords that were in attendance gathered in the throne room for drinks and a light snack. "Well we will have to see who is the better later. Right now we have guests that we must greet and entertain." he chuckled. Servents were every where bringing the wine and food about the large room and making sure that messes were cleaned up fast.

Nick looked Seclusion over and grinned at her. She looked marvelous. "Ah you will definately turn heads tonight my dear." he told her and slipped an arm about her to escort her down to the gathering. As the doors opened and they walked in, they all stopped talking and turned to look. "You see, you have made them all speechless." he chuckled and guided her into the room. Shortly after the King and Queen arrived and were announced. The center of the room was cleared all the way to the throne and all went to one knee as the two entered.

"Rise my loyal people." the king spoke with a tone that bespoke his good mood and new life. Shafon smiled and nodded to everyone as they walked down the asle that had been created by everyone. The King took his place on the throne and another large overstuffed chair was brought for Shafon. Once seated the party began in earnest. Nick brought Seclusion up to the two of them and drew out the papers that showed she was his slave. Having a servent bring out pen and ink, he drew a line acrossed the page and wrote, FREED, and signed it. He had the King sign it as a witness. He then handed the paper to Seclusion grinning.

“Now I wouldn’t say that” she said back rather bluntly as he slipped an arm about her and looked up to him she looked up a little rustling her wings on her back when they all stopped talking and turned to look. “Oh hush” she whispered to him. Blending in with the others when the king and queen as they parted creating an isle for them to walk through to their thrones and went to one knee with the others rising with them as well before Nick brought her up to the two of them and looked to him as he drew out the papers having forgotten about those long ago, She watched in silence and the queen looked to her mouthing something to Seclusion who simply gave a light nod closing her eyes.
She was almost shocked at what she next saw looking at the papers and gave a smile “Thank you” she said softly to him seeing the grin. “I should go greet my brother and his family” she said “We hope you enjoy yourselves your majesty’s” she said. The queen was smiling to herself and looked to Nick “I never would have guessed you bought her” she said to him.

Seeing her brother and his wife as well as little Tamar appearing she went over to greet them and picked Tamar up giving her a hug. “Glad to see your all still in one piece” she joked. “Shouldn’t we be saying that to you?”
“I don’t get in that much trouble”
