Dani was in shock.
She felt numb, almost detached from her body.
She stood and started to walk away she wanted to adviod the TV and was
able to for a little bit. But since nearly everyone was in the TV room she
slowly walked towards the TV room just in time to hear the shouting and then to
see Alex bloodied and with a gun to his head. She screamed and then fell
towards the ground. A quick thinking Soldier reached for her and
got her before she hit the ground she was placed on the couch.
Her eyes were big with fear and hatred. She was shaking with it. Both her hands were gripped but
she barely felt them. She watched as Alex spoke to the insurgants. “Baby why
are you doing this” She whispered a Soldier patted her arm. “He isn’t showing
them weakness” Dani nodded and kept watching. She knew it wasn’t going to be
the last time she saw him. It couldn’t be. Alex would come back to her he had
to. They were going to be a family. She needed him. They needed him. [/font][/color]

She jumped when Alex
lept up she clapped. “That’s it baby” She was coming around. She looked around
and smiled to her guys. “Thank you” She whipped her head back to the TV when
she heard something else. Her hands flew to her mouth as she watched her
brother and husband combat the monsters. She wept as she watched she was so
proud. She wiped her eyes when she thought it was over and looked around. Then
back to the tv as she sort of zoned out continuing to watch the tv really she
was still a bit in shock. She didn’t know what to do. Some where in the deep of
her mind thoughts of Debbie and Mary crossed her mind but she remained on the

Suddenly her body
shook and she stood up “I think its time that I send Alex a box” The Soldiers
all looked to Dr. Parks as she tried to start ushering them to their rooms. [/color][/font]

Dr. Parks had been watching Dani and the TV. It was surreal, the events that were happening. Alex and Dustin were still in hand to hand combat with two of the Taliban. The gun that Alex had, was knocked from his hand and he had been able to grab a knife from one of the bodies on the floor. Dustin had his own out and ducked slashes from his opponete while trying to drive his into the man.

Dani's actions were normal for one trying to deny what was happening to the man she loved and not being there to help. He put a hand on her shoulder. "He will be alright. Look at him. Look at the determination on his face. He is fighting for more then his life, he has more to come back to then the one he is fighting and he knows it."

The Taliban was clumsy with the handling of a knife. It was apparent that he had not used one in a fight before. Alex's blade flashed in and out leaving a cut here and there, drawing blood each time. Both Dustin and Alex seemed to have the upper hand in their fights and soon that was over. But opponets went down with a knife in them.

The TV Room erupted in loud Uh Ras, and other phrases, as there were army and marines and a couple of those from the Navy.

The rest of the team finally burst in the room. Alex went over and squatted down over the leader of the Taliban group. "Now you are going back for interegation. I keep my promises." he nodded to a couple of the soldiers and they picked him and the wounded up and took them out. He went over to Dustin and punched him in the shoulder. "Not bad, not bad at all." he chuckled and then remembered the camera and went over and turned it off.

Dr. Parks took Dani by the arm, "Alright young lady, time for you to be taken home and help Mary and Debbie cope with all that has happened." He nodded to a couple of the male nurses to help her. "I will drive you and have someone drive your van home. You are in no shape to drive."

Dani jumped at the sound of the uh rahs and other phrases she was grateful for them all though. She was just really jumpy. She gave up trying to usher other people to their rooms and her attention was thrown back to the T.V. When the fight was continuing she smiled in spite of her tears. She was proud of Alex. Her husband the love of her life and father of their babies but when she got his hands on her she felt like ringing his neck then kissing him and making love to him. That was if she wasn’t as big as a house next time she saw him. She shook her head. No the time line had him coming home to two 3 month old babies. She sighed, maybe if he was lucky he would be home for their first steps and words.

She shook her head she was too distracted she wastched as the team finally burst in to the room. She grumbled “About time” She then watched as the wounded were taking up and then watched the mini exchange between Alex and Dustin. Then held her breath as Alex looked at the Camera. Surely he was going to say something to her, anything right? Her heart fell as he simply turned it off.

She turned around to go back to work. She had to keep busy. When if she was honest with herself she just wanted to climb into bed and smell his scent on the blankets she tried to move around Dr. Parks but it was no use. She sighed and looked up at him about to argue but she then smiled. Dr. Parks worded in such a way that she couldn’t turn it down. She was being sent to home to help. She looked at the Nurses and smiled. “Yes Sir, don’t worry no need for duct tape” The joke was still running.

She said good bye to everyone, signed out then went home with Dr. Parks. She talked to him a little. She was clearly nervous and worried about all the stress on the babies. Dr. Parks smiled “It is a good thing that you are talking” Dani smiled “Yeah only took being taken hostage twice, having my husband not remember me, and being pregant” She sighed. She looked at him “He doesn’t remember not remembering me, I hope he never does that would kill him”

Once home she was surronded by Debbie and Mary. Her Van was returned and she sighed as she said good bye to everyone then was taken into the house. She was given some soup and then they all sat down and decided on a movie. It would help keep all of their minds off of it. Dani couldn’t help but glance towards the phone. Mary smiled “Hunni he is likely to be debriefing and sleeping and eating, seeing the medical team and such, he will call when he can”

Dani nodded. “Yes I am thinking of sending a package” She paused “Thinking of adding some duct tape as a joke”

Alex, Dustin and the team were ushered back to the battalion area for debriefing. As they disembarked from the HUMMVEs they were surrounded by a cheering battalion. Again the Immortals had come out on top. Word had come down from their Division Headquarters that a Unit Citation would be presented. The eyes of the world were on the battalion soldiers.

At The Coalition Headquarters the General and his staff were meeting with the Tribal Leaders. The place was packed with reporters from all over the world. The spokesman for the tribal leaders sat in a chair next to the General as the cameras rolled and flashed. The translator for him translated his words into english and others around the world translated them into their language. "We have meet and talked with your Sergeant Alex Morgan. He is, we believe, a spokesman for Allah. He seeks a peaceful way out of this terrible war. Yet he is willing to face the dangers and those seeking his destruction with a courage seldom seen. We the Tribal Leaders will not accept the presence of Al Quida or the Taliban in our lands. We know who these are and they will be dealt with by us or captured and turned over."

"We are a people that are always fighting. Perhaps it is time to have peace. We are independent and probably will always be so. But we will support the government as long as it supports us. It is time to rebuild and and perhaps make changes. Some will take time while others will not."

Back in Washington at the Pentagon this news sent everyone scurring. A drawdown could come sooner then expected if the Tribal Leaders and their people did what they said they would. A decision was made and the first of those to come back immediately was the "Immortals". Even they big brass had come to call the battalion by their nick name. Word was sent to get them home.

During his debriefing, the orders came down, and was announced. There was wild cheering and joy throughout the battalion as the men began getting things ready for their deployment home. Once his debriefing was done and he was free to go Alex immediately got to one of the few phones that could call back to the states.

The phone rang at home and Mary answered it. She waved for Dani to come to the phone.

Even though Dani knew that Alex was busy having meetings and being checked out she was still dispert for him to call her. To hear his voice to hear for herself that he was okay. Sure she would lay into him. She had two words for him when he did call. Other then the normal I love you and such. She was up and pacing. Skye her dog was whimpering at her side until finally Mary embraced her in a hug and then sat her down with a calming tea. “This is completely safe”

Dani drank it and was half asleep on the couch when the phone rang. She sat up quickly too quickly for her cat that was sent flying. She apolgized to the cat then raced to the phone.

“Alex?” She half screamed then burst into tears. “Alex I love you, thank God you are okay” She paused remembering her dad, she quickly tried to stop the tears then calmly said “I have two words for you Alex Morgan, you can tell them to Dustin too” She took a breath “DUCT TAPE” She said loudly. She talked to him for a bit trying her hardest not to cry she didn’t want to have him know that she was scared or upset, she just wanted him to hear her happy voice.

She sighed. She loved her husband so much. She talked to him and then told him that she loved him. She told him she was doing good and that the babies were doing good. She told him that she felt fat. That she was still working but was slowing down. She didn’t tell him that she had been warned that she would be on bed rest for the last month, that was normal with twins since they liked to come early. She didn’t want to stress him out.

She smiled listening to him. She hoped that he would least be able to watch her give birth on skype. Lots did it. She kept telling him that she loved him. Eventually she would give the phone to Mary or Debbie so they could talk too. She was doing a lot better now that she got to talk to him.

As soon as Dani got on the phone she laid into him about taking chances and the like, in between saying how much she loved him and was glad that he was alright. He was wanting to tell her that he was coming home very soon but he decided to wait and surprise her. He had heard about alot of returning soldiers surprising their wives and kids and they were all on film. She he had to now think of a way to really surprise her and make sure Dustin didn't spill the beans.

They talked for a while on many differnt things. He did tell her though that the battalion had been ordered to stand down for awhile. He knew that would releive her mind a lot more knowing that Dustin and him were not out in the danger zone. Finally it was time to let her go and get some rest. He also knew that she was afraid that he would not be there for the birth of their children. Now he would be there and the entire battalion would be home to their loved ones.

When he got off the phone he went to work on getting his squads stuff ready for the return trip to the States. I was not an overnight thing. The next few days were busy getting vehicles fixed and checked out, loaded with equipment and ready for someone else to get to the port and on the ships to be brought home. The last thing that was packed were their personal gear. Tents and such were being left there for another unit to move into, but all the esential things were packed up. Then another unit moved everyone to the airport where they had to wait for the planes to be readied for them to board.

Time seemed to fly by in those few days and before they knew it they were in the air heading home. As the planes left the ground there was loud cheering and clapping from everyone on board. The Immortals were on their way home and Alex had managed to get word to his mom and Dr. Parks to keep Dani away from the TV. Word spread quickly around the VA center. Everyone had a very hard time keeping from laughing and telling her about it.

Dustin was doing the same with Debbie. Alex's mom had made sure that she was kept in the dark as well. The days had flown by but the hours on the plane seemed to drag.

Just hearing his voice did wonders for her. She was relived to hear that they had been ordered to stand down she chuckled. “Guess the higher ups don’t want a very pregnant woman showing up with duct tape hey?” She sighed said again that she loved him then handed the phone back to Mary. She went to bed and for the first time in a while fell asleep quickly and slept the night through.

In the morning she dressed, clothes that she had to laugh at she was very pregnant now and having to wear special clothes with belly support. She knew she wouldn’t be working for too much longer. Dr Parks wouldn’t hear of it. Already she was basically just chatting and talking and helping feed and such. She sighed it seemed so had many mother hens there, Especially some of her guys that she had protected doing the hostage. They were consenetly telling her to sit down, it was really driving her nuts but she was grateful for it all too.

She had a big breakfast and then was off to work. She of coursed missed her Alex but work helped. She had her weekly appointment with Dr. Parks as well. She was actually opening up to him It helped a lot. She was trying to get a package together but Dr. Parks told her that they might be switching bases so to old off. Dani wasn’t surprised by that, she knew that happened a lot.

The final day she relized that all the tvs were on movies and not the typical news. She found it a bit odd but didn’t really say anything. Her back was to the door as she was reading to a group of Soldiers.

It seemed to take forever but finally the plane touched down in New York and then refueled and again was off, this time for Texas. He had gotten a bit of sleep on the plane, he was tired but not where he had to go back to sleep. The plane finally touched down in Texas and busses took them all to Fort Hood where a big welcome had been set up for the returning soldiers. The families had been brought in and awaited them.

Military vehicles were there to transport the soldier's baggage to the Battalion Headquarters where it would be secured and the soldiers could pick it up later. Everyone was filed off the buses and formed up then marched on to the parade field to a cheering crowd of family and friends. A few words were spoken and then the Battalion was released. The field filled with the wives and children, parents, brothers, and sisters, as well as friends.

Al;ex smiled and made his way from the crowds. Reporters were there, news cameras and the like. He didn't want all of that. So as they made their way towards where he had been he had made a hasty retreat in another direction. He was met by Dr. Parks who had drove down to pick him up. "Come on." he told Alex "Time is a wasting."

The drive was not long but to an anxious Alex it was forever again. But they pulled up into the parking lot of the VA Center and Dr. Parks ushered him into the building and through the hallways to where Dani was reading to some of the soldiers. He was still in his fatigues. He stood in the door way looking at her. The soldiers looked up and smiled then looked at Dani. He moved quietly up behind her and said "Hey Beautiful."

As hard as it was for Dani just to go back to her normal routine she knew that it was for the best. Also that Alex and Dustin would only worry about her if she did something different, or if she took to her bed. She had a feeling with how big she was that it wouldn’t be too longer until she was put on bed rest. She rubbed her stomach. She had an appointment to find out the gender of her babies. She hadn’t decided if she was going to find out but had already asked the doctor to put into a envelope and she would give it to Mary. She if need be the bedding and car seats could be put in the proper colours. She still couldn’t believe that she was going to be having twins. Well except for her huge bump protruding from her stomach. She checked her texts reading one from her OB her appointment had to be pushed back a few hours. She texted back that it was fine; she was enjoying reading to the Soldiers. It seemed to calm them all down. They all loved her and it seemed that nearly every day she was getting a little something cute little onesies and the like. She knew better than to refuse this was their way of saying thank you. All the kids loved her. Seemed that seeing her handling the pregnancy so well even with her husband being deployed and all the stuff that had happened to him, many more finally agreed to become fathers there was going to be a baby boom. She smiled; her babies would have friends to play with.

As she read on she noticed that everyone seemed a bit distracted today. Like they all knew something that she didn’t. She shrugged it off as just being jumpy about Alex and Dustin. She sighed and rubbed her stomach she was in the last little bit of her pregnancy. She had held off of finding out the genders. She only wanted for Mary to know now that she could pick up some coming home outfits.

She just continued reading and chatting with all of them. She had to laugh that her duties had been restricted to reading, talking and the sort. She was very pregnant. So she understood everyone’s concern for her. She stopped reading looking at everyone. There were all smiling she wrinkled her brow then shook her head and started to read again. She gasped when she heard the voice.

She dropped the book and gasped she stood and started to cry. “Alex?” She gasped then threw her arms around her. She had grown a lot since the last time he had seen her. Her stomach protruding out and her belly botton was poking out as well. She kissed him passionatly and the room urupted into cheers. She was crying and stroked his face. “What, How, why?” She asked then laughed and kissed him again. “Baby I can’t belive you are here”

She took his hand to her stomach as the babies were kicking up a storm. “They are happy too” She said. She hadnt let go of him. “I love you so much” She said she held him tight as she could since her stomach was in the way.

Alex chuckled as she whirled around and spoke. Before he could answer her she was kissing him. He returned her kiss with equal passion as the people in the room cheered and clapped their hands. When he broke the kiss he explained. "The entire battalion has been brought back home. The draw down has begun in earnest now. There will be no more redeployment back there now."

Meanwhile on the other side of town, Dustin walked into the store that Debbie worked in now. She was busy with a customer. Suddenly everyone stopped and looked towards Dustin. They had seen the news casts and his face and knew who he was. He moved up behind Debbie grinning. "You are getting big." he told her.

Mary arrived at the VA center shortly after the surprise to Dani was made. She came in and embrased Alex and then Dani. "My family is now all whole again." she smiled at Dani. "Now home with you two and I think Dustin and Debbie will be arriving back home here shortly as well."

Dani kept her arms around him. She was scared that she was dreaming and that he would disappear. She cried and kissed him and held on to him. Finally the sounds of the room came to her ears. She blushed and introduced him. “This is my husband” One burst into laughter “well I would hope so or you would have some explaining to do missy” Dani blushed shook her head. “Oh shush” It was clear that all the guys had opened up to her and she could joke with them.

Dani was about to show Alex around but his mom showed up. Dani hugged her “You knew?” She asked but she didn’t care. Alex was home. As was her brother. She sighed it felt like a huge weight had been lifted from her shoulders. “Yes lets get going” She said softly. She held his hand and then showed him the new van. “You wouldn’t belive all the stuff we got at the baby shower, including this new van.” She pointed to it. “They thought my little two door would be too rough with the little ones” She giggled and got into the drivers seat and once he was in she drove home.

“Baby I am so glad you are home” She had plans for him that night. She only hoped that he would be okay with it. If he wasn’t he would just show him the part in the book she was reading it would prove to him that sex during pregancy was just fine.

She pulled into home and grabbed his hand. She kissed it. “Welcome home” She wouldn’t mention him being captured again or how scared she had been. She wanted him relaxed. She led him into their room closed and looked the door and threw herself at him. “Oh Alex how I have missed you” She licked her lips. “I need you so much” Slowly she unbottoned his jacket and undid it so he was left in just his t-shirt.
