Magnus could tell that Jocelyn was uncomfortable, and probably didn't want to be there, which was understandable. But it was nice of them to stop by. When Luke brought Skylar up he grinned slightly. "Well, he's not exactly adopted. . . " he started, thinking about how to phrase it without it sounding strange, which he realized was virtually impossible. "He's ours. Literally. Not sure how it happened, but Alec carried him for nine months, etc." he explained, proud with that fact. Between a sterile man, and another man, they had somehow produced a child.

Luke looked wide eyed at them. Amazed, yes, surprised, absolutely. Confused? Never more would things boggle his mind as much as this did. "Er, I'll believe you." He looked at Skylar again, trying to picture Alec, the shy, quiet Lightwood, pregnant. Or rather, trying not to imagine him getting loud with Magnus. Magnus, he could see doing this, though warlocks were sterile. That part he had to overlook to see Magnus knocking someone up. Alec looked pretty happy, he figured. Embarrassed, sure, but when didn't he look a little red in the face? "Congrats, then," Luke said, smiling at them.

Magnus grinned at the wide-eyed look, which was to be expected. "Thanks" he nodded, acknowledging the words and the smile. His hand searched for Alec's under the table, finding it rather easily and twining their fingers together. He just hoped Maryse hadn't seen his arm moving near her son and thought him to be touching something else. He wouldn't do that at a table full of Alec's family, including his little brother. That would just be weird.

Luke and Jocelyn sat down, Jocelyn closer to Simon and Luke by her other side. Shadowhunters had even messed up Simon, he wasn't a Mundane anymore. He seemed to be the same Simon her daughter had known, but he was a downworlder now. There was something that felt different about him, though she already knew what. Undead always gave off an odd aura, Simon, however funny he was, gave off Undead no matter what.

Magnus knew how uncomfortable Jocelyn must feel, since she hadn't been around Shaodwhunters for years. She had run away from the Clave, and didn't consider them her people anymore. It was almost as bad as being a Downworlder in the group of Nephilim, but also worse, since some of these Shadowhunters had killed her daughter, even if it was necessary. He would have asked how she was doing, but decided not to bring it up at Christmas like that.

"So," Luke said, trying to make conversation on their part of arrival since they were late, and also giving off a depressing vibe. The Lightwoods weren't that much better, but they still had at least one of their kids. Jace might be gone, but they had Alec and Isabelle and Max, who were Shadowhunters by choice. Clary had been forced away from it due to better judgement on Jocelyn's part. "How old is your son?" he asked Alec, or maybe Magnus. Most likely Magnus because Magnus seemed very proud of his offspring. Alec was probably proud, he guessed, but he didn't talk much when he was embarrassed.

Magnus smiled slightly, figuring Alec wasn't going to answer, since he was obviously feeling awkward, with everybody now knowing for sure that they had had sex. He would have thought it obvious, he being himself, but apparently Alec didn't think so. "He's three months" he said, grinning. It was hard for him to believe that he had survived three months with a baby, but Skylar didn't cry much, so it didn't bother him. He couldn't stand the screaming children in stores and such.

"He's good for three months old," Alec commented quietly, a small smile to his baby. Alec had a feeling Skylar would be a good kid when he got older. All children went through phases, Skylar would experience some of that, he had to. Children didn't know better and went through it no matter who they were, but maybe Skylar would be just a bit better.

"I can tell," Luke replied, glancing to Jocelyn. Both of them remembered Clary as a loud, happy child, three months old and babbling already. There was almost never a quiet moment in the house. Jocelyn was glancing at Skylar from the corner of her eye, the corners of her lips twitching up. Luke noticed the look in her eyes that told him she was remembering little Clary, comparing Skylar to her, maybe.

Magnus nodded his agreement to Alec's quiet statement. It was good that he was quiet, and wasn't much of a hassle for things. Hopefully he would turn out well, and everything would be fine, etc. But he wasn't about to think about that on Christmas. He saw the way Jocelyn was looking at Skylar, and hoped that was a good sign, that she wouldn't be too reluctant to babysit if they really needed them to. He wasn't as opposed to dropping him off with somebody if they needed time alone as Alec was. His lover didn't seem to like that idea very much.

Maybe Alec knew what Magnus was thinking, maybe because they had been discussing if they would ask Luke and Jocelyn to watch their kid while they had alone time. Alec, personally, believed that was saying, 'hey, we didn't plan on losing the sex life, so watch the kid for a bit while we go at it.' Besides that, everyone would know what they were planning if they asked someone to watch their baby for a night. Alec didn't want to make eye contact after that. Like the others near him, he started picking out his food. Choosing a moderate amount from a few of the things. For someone so thin, Isabelle ate a lot. She had grabbed a moderate portion of a lot of the things.

Magnus grinned slightly, noticing almost instantly that Alec was avoiding eye contact. He had probably guessed his thoughts, which would explain a lot. He noticed everybody starting to dish out their food, so he started as well, getting a bit of everything until his plate was full. He wasn't exactly a picky eater, having gone through many times and cultures that had everything different, and this was a pretty normal spread of food. He didn't even mind most Downworlder food, but one had to be careful with fey food sometimes. Not warlocks as much, but he still didn't accept food from strangers.

"Help yourselves, guys," Robert said to them, his own dish carrying a large amount of food. He was a good eater, and being a Shadowhunter always working, kept in shape anyway. It wasn't hard for him to lose weight when he wanted to eat. Shadowhunters got exercise often and daily. "There's plenty. Also, there's dessert." Dessert was always good. Isabelle laid off the dessert though she loved sweet stuff.

Alec ate things in a particular order, things he wanted to save were eaten last. He sometimes added more of that last thing when he was done with what he had on the plate. He was still working to get in shape, so not too much food. In his opinion he needed to make his muscles a little more apparent than they were right now, and until then, he'd be on the extra training thing. He liked how he looked now, compared to the three months ago and before that.

Magnus was glad to hear that, desert being his favorite part. He hadn't doubted that it would be there though. Desert was something that just had to be there on Christmas. He started eating the food on his plate, starving since he hadn't eaten since the night before. He could eat as much as he wanted, his high metabolism keeping his figure rail thin. He liked it that way, not caring much for muscle on his own frame. Alec had the muscle out of the two of them, and it was already starting to build back up in the past three months.

Jocelyn looked as if she was accepting that she was having a nice time, Luke was trying to make small talk with her, mostly just getting her to nod or something. Luke was eating a healthy portion of food, Jocelyn was picking at the barely moderate amount she had gotten. She moved the food around the plate to make it look as if it were eaten, a trick every child knew.

Alec didn't know when babies could eat solid food, the time they had watched Max, they just gave him formula. Their mom set up Max on solid food. Alec would feed Skylar when he finished, which wouldn't take long. He was a quick eater, though he didn't shovel it in his mouth. He just took bigger bites, he guessed. When he was finished, he excused himself from the table, asking Magnus if he could have a bottle of Skylar's food.

Magnus noticed that most people were making small talk, and he added to that, either talking to Isabelle or Alec, mostly between bites. It was very good food, he had to admit. He looked up when Alec excused himself, guessing what he was going to ask before he did. "Alright" he said simply, snapping his fingers and the bottle of formula appeared on the table. He knew Skylar would have to start eating food soon, but nothing really solid until he had teeth. "This is excellent Maryse" he said as he got back to eating, only a few things left on his plate. Alec generally ate faster than most, so he wasn't surprised that he was done already.

Alec thanked him and grabbed Skylar, cradling him in one arm and the other feeding him. Alec walked around a little as he did so, thus making him look a little less awkward, he hoped. He edged toward the door so people didn't have to watch him pace with a baby in his arms. He didn't know about them, but people pacing made him nervous. He leaned on the door frame on the other side of the door, letting Skylar eat somewhat noisily from the bottle. It could be worse, he could be messier than he was now, or louder or something. Maryse told Isabelle she had been a loud eater when she was a baby.

Magnus was well aware of Alec pacing, even while he was looking down at his plate. He was always hyper aware of where he was, or what he was doing, as long as he was in the same vicinity. It was a warlock thing, as well as him being rather protective, needing to know that he was okay. It was necessary, with the lives they led. He finished off his plate and sighed in contentment, pushing his chair back a bit and tilting it up on two legs, looking back to Alec, leaning against the door frame while he fed Skylar, the noise now something he was used to.

Skylar ate at a normal rate, Alec supposed. Babies usually choked on the drink, hiccuping and trying to drink in one go. "Err, can you hand me a napkin, Magnus?" Alec asked a little lower than indoor speaking voice. He didn't want announce that Skylar needed to be wiped around the mouth. He used his pinky to take a small droplet of the milk and a combination of saliva from his baby's mouth. Skylar was cute even when he was being messy.

Magnus glanced up when Alec spoke, quieter than he normally did. He nodded, but instead of handing him one, he teleported it onto Alec's shoulder. It was so much easier this way. He didn't even have to move, other than almost a twitch of his fingers. He was watching them now, liking to watch how Alec and Skylar got along. Seeing his lover with a child had been odd at first, even if it was their child, but he had gotten used to it.

Alec dabbed the drops of milk and spit from the baby's face, smiling at Skylar. The bottle was nearly finished. Magnus seemed to make it the way Skylar liked if the baby didn't refuse or reject it at all. At least not yet. Alec never understood why babies needed to be burped after eating, he just followed Isabelle's lead when she took care of Max for feeding. He didn't even know how or why she knew, maybe it was a woman thing.

Magnus watched as Alec cleaned up Skylar's face. It was a bit gross sometimes how babies got spit all over their faces and such, but he tolerated it with Skylar. The only person's saliva that he actually liked would be Alec's, and he was hoping that Alec felt the same way about him, but you never know. He was glad that this whole parenting thing was going okay so far, as he learned either from watching Alec like he was now, or having to do it himself when Alec wasn't around, which sometimes resulted in him freaking out and calling Isabelle.

"Magnus," Jocelyn spoke quietly, having been glancing over her shoulder at Alec with their son occasionally. "Could we...perhaps, some time, watch Skylar? If you ever need it..." How long had it been for her since she could take care of a child? Clary had insisted on being independent, as all teens did as time went by and the need for a mother decreased. When did she feel any sort of bond taking care of a kid? Clary needed a lot of attention, and then hadn't needed any. Now, she wouldn't need any. Just to experience it once more, maybe with Skylar.

Magnus tore his gaze away from his little family to look at Jocelyn when the redhead spoke. He smiled at the slightly hesitant question. She looked rather hopeful that he would say yes, and he was more than happy to. "Of course. If we need you to watch him, I'll call" he said, nodding. That had gone better than he had planned. He didn't even have to be the one to bring it up. Now they had Isabelle, Maryse and Robert, and Luke and Jocelyn to watch Skylar when they needed it. It was good to have enough trusted people to be able to watch your child.

Isabelle looked up to the conversation. She sort of knew what Magnus wanted in this situation, and didn't know if thee was more to it or not. Maybe they did want a day or two alone to do whatever, or maybe, maybe Magnus had planned to ask them so he could get her brother all to himself for a few hours. She knew Alec wouldn't ask people, so either they offered or Magnus asked behind his back. Alec rarely refused when they offered, for anything. When Magnus asked though, he usually spent a bit of apologizing for the other party.

"So, Magnus, I'm not doing anything tonight, need me to watch Skylar?" she asked, smirking knowingly at her brother in the doorway, pretending not to listen.

Magnus looked to Isabelle when she started speaking to him, and he felt a grin cross his face. "Suuure Izzy! That'd be great!" he glanced up to Alec, smirking at him as well. He had been planning on asking her a bit later, but this just made it easier. This part of the dinner was going rather well. It was as if everybody was reading his mind. And as long as it wasn't Maryse reading his mind, he was okay with that. Maybe Max shouldn't know either, but with Jace as a brother, he didn't know how much the child had been exposed to things like that.
