The Begining

Rain smiled as the Lord spared their lives. He led her somewhere she didn't know. Were these chamber set aside for her? She looked at him as he kissed her hand. She says to him softly, "Thank you for showing them mercy." She saw the look in his eyes and knew she was wanted by him. That made her blush a deep red across her cheeks. She was not sure what to say or do. Surely he had enough lovers to keep him happy. He had about 20 or so women for him to enjoy anytime he wished. So why would he want her?

She sends a servant to tell her service at the castle that she lives in that she needed stuff packed for a long trip. He bowed and quickly went to deliver the message. She is then looked back at the Lord a minute and stood up on her toes to kiss his cheek. She says to him, "Thank you for being so kind to me and my brother. And thank you for allowing me to go on this trip with you. It is a great honor."

"It is you that they need to thank. Your compassion for them and those around you is something that can not be ignored. You will become an important person in this court." With her he was smiling more. She made him feel more at ease and that was refreshing. "Some will resent it and others will quickly try to curry your favor so that you might mention them to me." he chuckled. "So take care and be wise."

When she mentioned the trip and thankng him for taking her. "The pleasure is mine. You are a breath of fresh air and it has been a long time since one like you has been at court. Now I must attend to some business. I will leave you here to get ready." Again he raised her hand to his lips and kissed it. He turned and left. He went to one of his lovers chambers and entered. She immediately let her clothes fall to the ground.

One of those at the court, another of his lovers, over heard Akasha. She was one of those that Rain had saved because of their laughing at her. She was a vampire but knew that Rain was a favorite of Cain and that she owed her existance to Rain. She made her way to Rain's chambers and knocked on the door.

Rain watches him go and a few things for the trip. She wasn't sure what to do about becoming a noble. If she attracted much more attention, things would get bad for the master. She did not want to cause problems for him. When there was a knock on her door, she answered it. She sees it is a vampire noble. She says, "It is late shouldn't you be finding a meal for the night? It is not healthy for you to skip meals." She was not really concerned about her life even though Akasha would probably come to take her life in some way or another. She looks at the vampire a moment. She says, "You are a creation of Akasha. Are you here to kill me?"

The vampiress bowed her head to Rain. "I am the creation of Set and hold no love for Akasha. But as a vampire I am expected to show certain distain and ideals. But Your words to our Master Cain eased his wrath at us. I owe my life to you and there fore bring you this warning. Akasha does plan your demise and make it look as if a human did it out of hate for your position. Keep a close watch on your back on the trip you are going on."

Wit that she looked around again and left. The slaves of the castle did what she wanted them to do. "Your clothing and other things will be here by tonight. Are you sure you will not wear the clothing that Lord Cain has placed at your disposal. He does like viewing the charms of those he has an interest in."

Rain listens closely to what the vampire lady had to say. "Thank you for telling me about this. I will watch my back. Be careful on your way. She has spies everywhere. You do not want to be on her bad side." At the servant's question, she gave a kind nod. "Thank you for your assistance. And I know that the Lord Cain prefers women to wear such clothes, but I do not feel comfortable dressed like that. That is how a lady becomes seen as something a man can throw away. I refuse to be like that."

The slave woman nodded and bowed. "As you wish my lady. I know you see those that he has as lovers dressing with as little as possible. They do that to make him want them, not for others. " She prepared Rain's bed and had fruit, dates, and some spiced meats brought up to the rooms.

"You must have impressed the Master greatly my lady. Never has he shown an intrest in one of our kind like he h as you. Also not to have bedded you already is also something very new." The woman again bowed with respect to Rain before making her way to the door.

Rain leans against the wall. "I know that they do it to get his attention. I am not like that. I want him to like me for me." She gets her purse and gives the servant 500 dollars. "I know how hard you work and a lot of nobles don't appreciate it. So please take it. Plus you are the first person to actually talk to me like a normal person other than Lord Cain. And right now I could really use a person to talk to." She was nervous about her fitting in with noble society. She then let the servant go.

She eats some of the food before going to bed. She wakes up the next morning feeling odd. She takes a few minutes to remember she is in Cain's castle. She goes to the bathroom and stares at herself in the mirror as she feels her magic causing things to float in the air.

The slave girls eyes got big as Rain presented her with such a gift. With it she could possibly buy her own freedom and return home to her family. But she smiled and bowed. "When every you need something send for me, and if you ever just want to talk I will be most glad to listen and talk to you. I can see that you are not use to such a life as this. Perhaps I can help you if you have questions or concerns."

The slave girl left, leaving Rain to her own designs. In the Bath Chamber is a sunken tub, large soft towels made of cotton that is grown in Cains fields. He has taught the humans farming and how to make tools to till the fields and what to grow where and when. He somehow seemed to know how to use copper to make weapons and tools out of. Where he had learned this no one seemed to know.

Also in the room is the room is a wooden, oval shield like structure, covered in a thin sheet of copper, highly polished to reflect one's image. As she stands before it looking at her image, she can see the slight movement in the other room.

Rain gets back into the bed as she feels something wasn't right. She sighs and goes back to the bathroom. She could see in the mirror that something was moving inside it. She takes a closer look and sees that she is actually seeing something in another room. She asks thinking aloud, "How come I can see in another room?" She gets dressed and tries to get her powers under control. It was forbidden to have magic users here. If found, she would be put to death. She brushes her hair and goes to the main hall for an early prayer before the crowds arrive.

It wasn't really a religion or anything like that. People just worshiped Cain because he was so different then others. Most of the humans had been living in caves or mud huts when his army found them. Like those he was going to visit. The prayers he had created in order to take any worship away from the so called god that had cursed him.

People were arriving now in droves. Sometimes he would show up just make an impression on those that came. As was the case for that evening. But another was there. Moving about the assembly hall, mostly in the shadows. Only a fleeting glimpse of a figure here and there.

"Why do you pray to this monster?" came a voice near her ear, then was gone. A short time later again the same voice. "He is no longer human, nor is he a god." Then yet a bit later. "If he knew what you could do, do you think he would let you live?"

Rain tensed up as she heard the voice in her ear. She looks around for the person. She says, "If he decides not to let me live that is his choice. People like me are not accepted by anyone on this Earth. All I can do is find a bright side and protect those I care about." She stands up. "Death is a part of life and I am no different. Even his vampires cannot avoid death forever." She looks at the sky outside. "If I die soon, then let it be at Master Cain's hands. For he tasted my blood and let me live. So my life is his to take."

"Fool. You throw your life and others away." the voice came and then there was silence. More people arrived and filled in the room. Once the room was filled, Cain entered from his private entrance and took a seat on a throne like chair. The people immediately went to their knees and bowed lowed, placing their hands on the floor. They began chanting his praises and asking for his blessing.

Cain looked down on the people. Only a short time ago they were living in caves or mud huts, wearing animal skins for clothing. Now they lived in much more suitable structures and were learning to farm and raise animals. They no longer had to depend on hunting for their food, though some still did to suiplement their food. Their clothing now were of wool or cotton. He had taught them much and most worshiped him. But there were those that did not. They wished to see his downfall and destruction. These it seemed had been influenced by his parents other offspring.

These humans were trying to begin a rebellion of his subjects. There were always those that thought that they should be in power or wanted to be. Humans were unpredictable. All it took was the right enticement and they would change their alligence.

As he looked down at the humans he noticed Rain. He stood and walked down to her and raised her from her kneeling. "You do not need to kneel in my presence." One could hear the intake of many breaths at his decree. Never had a human been raised to such a level. It was as if Rain had been raised to Godhood.

Rain looks at him as he told her that she did not need to bow in his presence anymore. "My Lord I am not worthy of this. We have a traitor to your great name amongst the people. He tried to make me doubt your greatness. I told him that you are a God worth worshipping." She looks in his eyes. She was having a hard time suppressing her magic. There were too many people around and she wanted to use her power to seek out and destroy the non believer.

Cain looks around the room knowing that who ever it was was probably still there. Then he looks at Rain and guides her up to the throne. Again she had shown her devotion to him and wanting to warn him of danger. He stood infront of the throne with Rain at his side, an arm about her waist Many ventured a peak and saw her standing with him. This was something that seemed to even make them worship him more.

Once their prayers were done and the people rose and backed out of the room he turned to Rain. "Your abilities need some training I think. You almost lost control there for a bit." He sat down on the throne and drew him to her lap. "You do not have to fear me knowing. You may think that such abilities are frowned upon here but that is from those that do not understand them and fear them."

He caressed her face gently and looked at her clothing. "I see you prefer to cover your body. A shame, for it is truely a beautiful one that should not be fully concealed. But if that is what you wish."

Rain stands beside him and tries to stay in control of her magic. Once the people start to leave, some of the tension leaves her body. Her power becomes visible as a big blue light that surrounds her. She feels him pull her into his lap. She looks at him and says, "I usually can control it but the non believer has me so mad. He threatened you. He threatened to expose me. He called you a monster. That cannot go unpunished." Her powers start to change the entire room enhancing everything. "I won't let anyone human or vampire bad mouth you." His comments about her clothes and body cause her to blush. "My mother raised me to only allow the man I love see my body. So far no proper man has taken an interest in me."

Cain smiled at that. Such things were still practiced but many were begining to change their ways. They were becoming more aware of their bodies, the pleasures and desire to be looked upon. He chuckled a bit and said. Times are changing and it was not to long ago that people did not wear but animal skins and some hardly anything. It is one thing to look and another to touch. A woman may let all see what her body looks like in one form or another. But it is for the woman to decide if she wishes the man to touch her."

At that time one of his lovers passed several vampire guards. They looked her over and one could see the desire in their body movements, but they did not move towards her as she ignored them, though one could see the slight smile on her lips and the way she moved became more secductive. She knew she was being looked upon and enjoyed it. Cain pointed this out to Rain. "But if you prefer this type of clothing, so be it."

Easing her from his lap he took her back to her quarters. Again he wondered why he was taking such care with her, when he could take her if he wished. Then he remembered his human wife and how they had met and courted. It was more he had to prove to her and her family that he could hunt and provide for her and them. It had been an interesting time.

On the second day after he left her at her chambers two guards came to escort her to the caravan that was heading out to the outer districts of the kingdom. Her things had arrived and now were taken and placed on pack animals. A horse was brought up for her. Cain was there at the head of the caravan with Anubis on one side of him, and soldiers on both sides of the caravan.

On the day of the trip Rain got an idea. She would test out his theory on the idea of women liking the idea of being looked at by men. She changes into a outfit she has never worn before. It is a black dress that has no back to it. It has slits down the sides so when she walks people can see her legs and inner thighs. She was willing to put her shy side away to find out if this was a proven effect on men. As the guards bought her to the caravan, she could feel their eyes on her. She makes a mental note of it. She easily gets on the horse by herself.

Cain watched as Rain made her way to her horse. He smiled as he saw the dress she was waring. He saw the human males as well as the vampire males look at her and saw that glint in their eyes. Even he could not keep his eyes off of her. He approved of her choice of clothing and had a feeling that she wore it to please him since he liked that type of clothing on women. It was tasteful and revealing without being to revealing.

He moved his horse next to hers and smiled. Something that was now becoming more prevelent as he was with her. There was more talk about the castle and the city on how Rain's presence seemed to change Cain. He had been hard and never smiled. His judgements on people had been harsher but now the cases were listened to more intently and a more sound and reasonable judgement made and this over the space of only a couple of days.

"You look magnificent." he told her. "Did you see how all the men, human and vampire looked at you with that desire in their eyes. You never found a suitable man because all this time they were blind and not seeing you like this." he chuckled and raised one of her hands to his lips and kissed it. He then gave the signal and the caravan began to move

Rain looks at the men that would remain in the city while they were gone and smiles kindly at them. "Protect our home well gentlemen." She rides next to Lord Cain for a bit. "My curiosity got the best of me. I have had this dress for a few years. I just never had a desire or reason to wear it. I am glad that you like it though my lord." She did like the feeling of the material on her. She feels the wind on her skin. "A storm will be upon us in a few hours. The earth has been crying out for rain. So the sky is answering a little heavily."

"Some rain would be good for the land. But it will not hurt us to ride in it. Our cloaks will keep us dry." It was a fertile land in those days. Four rivers and many streams kept the land lush and green. He could see the storm clouds to the west and sent word back through the caravan of the approaching storm.

They traveled for some hours before the storm caught up with them. Lightning flashed through the sky and the thunder rolled over the land. The rain fell but it was not in a torrent but an easy rain that would drench the land in its needed moisture. He turned to Rain and asked her. "What do you think of this God some of the people talk about." he wanted to know if she had heard of his Father's god. Some of the people he had conqured prayed to him, in secret.

Rain felt the storm coming like a pull that would not leave her alone. When the rain finally fell upon them and the tension in her body instantly relaxed. Her dress got a little wet but it did not bother her. At his question, she looked at Cain. “I do not know what to think about this other God people pray to. He does not answer his worshipers’ prayers and he does not allow people to love who they want to whether they are the same gender or not. I did see this book they use to teach this god’s will. It is confusing.”

Cain nodded. He knew his parents had tried to instill in him and his brother how powerful God was. But from what he had seen, he was not all that powerful. He had heard the story that his father had told him and Able about how they had disobeyed God and got thrown out of Eden. If he was all knowing, why didn't he know they were going to disobey. Why didn't he know that
Able attempted to kill him and that he would wind up killing his brother.

A weak god, one that was not worth worshiping. He would have more worshipers then that God would ever have. He was glad that Rain was confused by the teachings. She seemed more inteligent then most of the humans which meant they would not understand it other. While God did not show himself or speak to those who worshiped him, he presented himself before the people and showed them his power and spoke to them.

The storm lasted a couple hours and drenched the land in needed water. When it had passed and the sky remained cloudy it didn't bother him. The cool air and overcast sky made the travel more bearable. Soon enough it was night and Anubis' lycans were on guard around the camp. Cain did not worry about being attacked by humans, but other creatures out there, wild and savage would.

The tents went up and two of the lycan guards stood before the entrance to Rains tent. They stood there in their human form. Cain entered the tent and smiled at Rain. "How are you feeling." he asked. It had been a long day. "Is there anything that you need?"

Rain did not mind the storm but it was hard on the horses. When they stopped for the night, she say her tent examining the ground. The soil was producing life yet everything had poisonous organisms in them. When Cain came into her tent, her eyes showed she was worried. If the outer villages were this infected, then there wouldn't be much life left in the people if any at all. "This land is plagued with a deadly overgrow of The Devil's eye plants. These plants can spread to any length if not kept in check. The funny thing is that this plant is used or known for killing vampires or werewolves. It could not kill someone as old as you are but it could severely weakened you enough for someone to kill you. Humans can eat this and be fine. As long as they mix it with the right herbs. But from what I can see these humans or whatever started to grow this didn't even bother to grow the cure herbs for the people that live in this land. We have a big problem."

This was news to Cain.  Vampires and Lycans had not been around that long.  He had lived for about three hundred years now and the lycans about only thirty or so.  Anubis created them, when he changed into his animal form of a wolf.  He found if he bites a human while in that form they became a wolf like creature but with a human form.

Some one it seemed had found a way to harm his kind and the lycans.  Indeed this was news and one that did not please him to well.  "Can you find a way do get rid of it."  he asked her.  One with the same abilities as her had to have created this plant.  "It must be eradicated as soon as possible.

Rain says looking in his eyes, “I can but it will take a lot of energy. This plant has been around since you became a ruler. My lord the spell I will cast will drain me and make me unable to travel without help.” She went to the center of the camp and stares at the sky before her magical heritage starts to take over. “Hera Mika Tossa El Bear!” A deep blue energy pulses out of her body and into the ground. Her blonde hair turns white and her eyes turn icy blue as the energy spreads throughout the land reaching as far as it is able. The energy makes the ground pulse and shake as it is purified of the plant’s infection. Then slowly the energy returns to her body and returns her to her natural state. She falls to her knees and covers her face as her nose bleeds heavily.
